Re: Honest Critique
super duper support this! Although, I will restrict some things I say either way. There are things I would never post on a forum about critique, unless I know them personally and will tell them personally. Just because I don't want some crazy reputation of being a some pretentious butt who thinks sh...

Re: Nonfiction Writing Idea: VNs and Western Audiences
I will support this. It's a great idea, and a completely different perspective for people to see about this topic. It would be cool to have simple sample features of other games in it too.

Re: Please critique/comment my art and give feedback
As a note, when you draw angles like that, the arm in front of the viewer should be longer than the arm in the back, due to perspective. That can also apply to the shoulders in the front (it will be higher), and the breast in the front (it will be slightly larger), and eyes (it will be higher, just ...

Re: Improvement, Critiquing Possibly?
You should probably figure out how the wrinkles line with the shirt. Easy way is to wear a tight tshirt yourself, and see how the wrinkles begin to bunch up where the cloth pulls the most. Even if you're a girl, it should still make sense. The wrinkles are most prominent around chest and armpit area...

Re: A second opinion please!
Her head is a little tilted. Draw a at the center from her head down to her dress. You'll see her body is leaning too much on one side than the other, especially how the neck and body connects. Since this is digital, you can easily just select the head on the image, and move it to the right a little...

Re: Am I good enough to do my own sprites?
As a simple answer to your question: You're good enough to do your own sprites when you're confident enough to say you can. This applies to practically everything. If you're confident you can do it, and at least try, then you're good enough to do it. It's like baby steps--if you don't think you can ...

Re: Psst. You. Let's talk about stylistic choices.
- Describe your style in one word. Cute? Sophisticated? Unique? Questionable. I love the mix of perfection in inperfection a lot. It's like showing people something that looks wrong, but you can't see why it's wrong, because the intention was right. I don't know if that makes sense, especially in a ...

Re: Visual Novels and semi-abstract art?
personally, I'd say hell yes, go for it. But that's because I'm an artist and I like the avant guarde that looks good. But above all, the entire decision is if you can execute it yourself right. It's possible that it could be done but doesn't look good but the idea was awesome, or it could be done a...

Re: Which way to display the Player character?
I kind of misinterpreted the title of this, but here's my two cents: Since we read english from left to right, our eye often looks at the most important character at the left, and the one you look at more on the right. So it would be wise to almost always keep your character towards the left. Not 10...

Re: Replay value in a visual novel
I know I've been a little hooked on vns where I'm quite aware that there's more than one path. For example, a dating game where you can get different hookups depending on your choices. And as an artist, I love unlockable CGs. Especially when they're nice to look at. For my personal project, I'm plan...

Re: 2D Vs 3D characters
In my opinion, the reason why people are opposed to it is because they haven't been convinced that it looks good. If one day someone in the world makes it convincing enough, I'm sure people will change their minds. Well, I personally haven't been convinced, but I mean, one day...one day someone will...

Re: On flipping sprites
one thing you should be careful, especially with artists that don't do it, is that flipping can often show artists' mistakes. Like regarding proportions, if you flip it and it looks weird, it's likely that it's off and you need to fix it. Artists often flip their images to make sure mistakes and pro...

Look up photo references on Deviantart. It's a freakin goldmine for crazy poses and drawings, and tons of photos with lots of clothing concepts too.
