Re: When to announce?

@Lekhaka
"Social network VN maker" is a mis-characterization. The social part only seriously comes into play for publishers to promote their works.

Oh man I don't know. Art can't be focused-grouped.

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@duanemoody you need to enable javascript. For the converter, custom scripting would have to be done manually. It depends on how complex the minigames are, but if it's too complex then NovelStream wouldn't be the best choice atm anyway. As for the topic of Crescendo, are you able to read anything in...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@Spiky Caterpillar Thanks for contributing extremely sensibly to the discussion. :) On Fonts: Yes if you need custom fonts you should get your own licenses. NovelStream cannot handle that for you. On Warez: Yes, we should move more of our code server side. We'll definitely get on that. :) Media Lice...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@Jake very classic business mistake. You're accentuating the obvious, easy to blame, issue and dismissing the less obvious ones as mitigatable. The reason why it's so easy to talk about NovelStream is because NovelStream offers you an all - in - one blame package, so you know who to call if somethin...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@Blue Lemma We'll definitely discuss more about reader-facing issues when we release. You can hold down ` or the enter key to fast forward. Is that sufficient? Oh come on, you know we're all waiting for an MMOVN. Imagine the thrill of grinding mobs for rep items so that you can get exalted with the ...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@papillon and @Blue Lemma Hey first of all thank you so much for providing this great place for everyone, and helping the VN community. The two of you are totally right of course, any streaming, server hosted service has the issue of control for the readers. Well first just let me say that what I wa...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

Hey Strumm, what you see on the website refers to the compiled executable for Crescendo, which does have voice acting. The source doesn't. And what can I say, the stuff's in beta. You can see more transitions in the Utena demo, though no text scroll either. Text scroll is temporarily turned off beca...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@Jake Thank you so much for all your feedback, advice, etc. I really appreciate it. I really think your risk assessment is totally wrong however. it still doesn't help with the part where I'm not always connected to the Internet. :/ Wish there was something I could do about this. One day though, we'...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@Counter Arts I have to triple check the security situation, but one day I might be able to allow eval of custom js for advance programming. It's fairly hard to say. The engine might also go completely open source too if I can move enough of the vn script server-side. It might still be possible to d...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

Hmm, I had a look at Crescendo and noticed there are no transitions in the game at all past the opening. Is it just me or what? The text also appears instantly, I'm pretty sure the original would have text appearing one letter at a time. Without transitions and instant text, it looks like a rushed ...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@fortaat Thanks for all your reports. Live Preview is indeed bugged, :( I'll fix it ASAP. For the Media Browser stuff I wouldn't say that's exactly how they're supposed to be used. We'll be releasing documentation over the next week. You've given us a lot of stuff to work on, so thanks. By the way, ...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

Is that the full version of Crescendo, sans voices on the website? Will Peach Princess be distributing it free to play online from now then? Not at all, sorry. This is just an open beta, after we do some more work on it we'll get more testers to test it. It'll be for sale soon. About the lack of vo...

Re: NovelStream: Revolutionary visual novel platform

@PyTom, @Wintermoon: Regarding vendor lock-in. PyTom you yourself said that developing a converter from NovelStream to another engine would be a weekend's worth of work. If someone wanted to not use Ren'py and use, say Novelty, how easy would it be for her to do so? If someone wanted to not use Igni...
