Re: This, My Soul [GxB][Sci Fi][Romance][Drama][Nano17][DEMO
Really enjoyed the demo, can't wait to play the full version! The game has a very cohesive, polished look, and the story seems off to a good start (did I spot a couple of hints that all is not as it seems?). I was impressed by the number of choices in the demo, especially for a NaNo game.

Re: Queen's Crown [Romance/Fantasy/Drama/Otome] DEMO UP!
I'm bad at explaining how much and why I like things, so I'll just put this up front: I liked the demo. A lot. The sprites are distinctive and quite nice, and while the UI does look like a work in progress, there's definitely a consistent color scheme/style in there that looks like it'll work well i...

Re: Lunchtime at St. Expeditus (short, slice-of-life, GxB/Bx
Even though it's a very short Visual Novel, I like it all in all! I like how the time for the characters is so realistic, and how the mission for one character depends on the other. I was forced to take down notes for each other's wants. I just wished that I could save and load, or scroll up to rea...

Re: Terminal Love (v1.2) [Flash VN] [Aromantic]
It's a pretty interesting game - I found the plot a little hard to follow, but the concept was cool. I can't manage to save Jasmine, though, and am wondering if this is a bug: I found out what to talk to her about, but then when she asks about depressed people, no matter what I pick the response alw...

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
Interesting post. Releasing the game as a series of short episodes does sound like a good idea. I was a bit confused, though, by the way you described your story model: [T]he game will sometimes present the player with a simple binary choice, and depending on what the player picks, it will alter the...

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
It makes me sad that many people can't enjoy a story-based visual novel and need more gameplay. These are both unfortunate, but I fear they are the truth when it comes to a lot of gamers. I would even count myself among my own target audience; something about the traditional Japanese VN model simpl...

Re: Japanese vs Korean themed
fwiw, I've got legions of Korean immigrant relatives here in the US and have never seen any of them eat rice with a spoon. I often eat my rice with a spoon, but that's because I'm a lazy bum who hates trying to get the last grain of rice out of the bottom of the bowl with chopsticks. oh, and I guess...

Re: Dating Mechanic
Aren't all relationships just conversations with choices, when you think about it? Did you mean, more interactive, or more like an actual game than a test? I think, especially in games where the purpose isn't to hook up with people, that turning a relationship into a game is kinda silly. Whereas, I...

Re: Japanese or English names?
Any of these names would do for a game set in Europe! (Maybe.) Nice to see my name on the list... Well, you'd still have to do a bit more research to name your characters appropriately for their background, since Europe has many different countries with different languages and thus different names....

Re: Dating Mechanic
The only thing I am debating is whether or not to have a menu with meters showing where you sit with different potential partners. Would you want to see where you stood with different characters at a glance, or let it play out more organically, not knowing where you stand except through their actio...

Re: Word Minimum
Generally, first tries are meant to sharpen one's skills (or releasing beta, etc). But it has become a trend to only release this kind of first tries. That is to say, very short stories, with only a few scenes. Several reach their impact scene a little too fast and make the audience feel "not ...

Re: Japanese or English names?
Although it's definitely possible to set your game in Japan and have it be believeable (with some research, of course), I think that many players are now somewhat biased against games by Western authors set in Japanese high schools, because copying anime with that setting is pretty old and tired by ...
Re: CTR Hero
I'll try another example to explain to you why this makes me uneasy: The material for this game comes from Primary handbooks used by the LTS, as semewelamb tells us. Would you, as a parent, have no qualms with people from the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints approaching your kid play...
