Re: Project Mitadake [Mystery][Suspense/Horror]

I didn't update this thread for my last tumblr post, oops. I have been working though, just not showing much of it off. Most of what I've gotten done lately is script work and art studies. I’ll probably end up redrawing all these sprites over again before the project is complete, I can already see t...

Re: Project Mitadake [Mystery][Suspense/Horror]

Thank you! I'm happy that somebody knew it. If it's any consolation, your grammar seems far better than a lot of the native english speakers people who used to play. Since you're interested, I'll oblige. I hope I meet your expectations. http://40.media.tumblr.com/a3330f75d2dfa5a901b21fd93cf4360b/tum...

Re: Animating an appealing lip flap

The thing with your mouth is that it placed in the wrong place. In your .gif she looks like she's doing duck-face kind of thing. Like this: If you'll move the mouth a little bit right It'll look better, I think. Also, in that tiny picture, her mouth looks all pink like this: As if she's sticking ou...

Animating an appealing lip flap

So, one of the things I wanted to do in my VN is lip flaps during character speech. Alternating between the open and closed states doesn't look very good though so I tried adding a third frame, but found difficulties in making a nice looking animation using a mouth that was smiling. Instead of makin...

Re: Implementing animated characters

Yes, with ATL you're essentially defining the animation once and then you can call it up at any time. This includes within other ATL animations, which is what you're looking for. First you want to define your lip sync animation, so for example; image character lip sync: "mouth open.png" pa...

Re: Word overuse

Hmm, a sample passage would be difficult because I generally find a way to solve it and I don't know if I have something on hand to demonstrate with. I suppose as an example, describing somebody running. There's a lot of words to describe the different ways someone can run and a lot of those are for...

Word overuse

Is there a good rule of thumb when it comes to how often a word is used? Basic words don't really have much of a limit, I'm sure, but when it comes to more specific descriptors it would definitely feel wrong to re-use it so soon after the previous use. I tend to ctrl+F through my script from time to...

Re: Writing the "In-between Scenes" AKA Bridging Scenes

I struggle with transitions way too much. Getting characters from point A to point B is one of the more difficult things for me and things often become one long continuous stream of scenes that blur into each other. I try to flavor the transitions with character building where I can, but it's probab...

Re: Win The Game [Battle Royale Sim]

I absolutely adore battle royale and survival games in general so I basically love you for making this, especially as these sorts of stories are sadly absent from the EVN scene. I just finished playing and really enjoyed it; the overall presentation and format was great and unique, and I can't imagi...

I think you're hitting upon one of my favorite genres here and I like the visual style you're going with.
As for who the Crosser is, it's totally Holden. Maybe. I'm better at guessing these things when I've had the characters properly introduced :V
I wanna see where this goes though, good luck!

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

I took a break from working on my VN for a few months after uni started, but I went back to it recently and I hated the sprites I did so I set about editing them. I ended up being a lot happier with the results than I expected to be, so I feel a lot better about the workload I still have and am a lo...

Re: Dealing with burnout?

If I don't feel like working, there's not much I can do about it. I can force myself to do some work but the quality will suffer and it's not worth it. What I usually do is just roll with it and relax for the day, basically just do something comfy (Minecraft while listening to podcasts tends to be m...
