Re: Tsundere-sama [Romance, Otome, Comedy, Free]
UPDATE: Okay, Suika has indirectly convinced me. Default would be the hime hairstyle, but because I already have the other hairstyle in there, I figured I might as well keep it in case I ever needed it (aka I'm hoarding layers rn). Yay!! :P YES! (Sorry I too, liked the Hime style) Can't wait to pla...

Re: Tsundere-sama [Romance, Otome, Comedy, Free]
UPDATE: The whole hime/kuu/dan kind of thing might be removed, because now that I look at it, it feels like I'm trying to cram so many deres into one game. Though I might use the idea (one guy liking a certain type of dere) for a different game. Maybe for Kaoru lol Reducing the scope might not be a...

Re: Leave Room for Doubt
I think it's okay to let players miss jokes and other content unique to that one branch that you didn't choose. I agree with that sentiment exactly. I find replays to be a lot more valuable when I discover that there were things that I missed (e.g. jokes, patterns, revelations) based on the choices...

Re: Data structures for plot-related variables
Ocelot offers some good advice. One strategy I like for keeping track of flags is to declare a class and define static member variables for each flag. It keeps things grouped, and helps intellisense. Plus, if you need to iterate over the flags for whatever reason you can reflect over the class (but ...

Re: Best testing practises for Ren'Py
I'm sure others will have more to offer than this, but if your game has any complex logic or custom mechanics, I find code reviews to be pretty valuable. Sometimes just getting a second opinion helps you find better solutions or bugs that haven't quite been caught in beta testing.

Just dropping by to say what a pleasure it is to work with Infinite. Turnaround was incredibly fast, and even though my description was rather vague, you managed to turn it into something awesome. Thanks!

Re: Licensing and 'Pay what you want'
Here is an interesting report from 2009 about how "non-commercial" is defined and interpreted, along with the full report and raw data . The actual license restricts use: … in any manner that is primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or private monetary compensatio...

Re: A Massive, Collaborative Visual Novel?
I find this concept really interesting, and finding a way to organize disjointed efforts would certainly be useful. However, I think there are a few more issues here. Sure, an experienced director would help, but organizing 100 volunteers to create something reasonably cohesive is a HUGE feat. I thi...
