Re: Defining characters

You can streamlinw the chara definition by creating a generic chara and use it as kind in others.
Find it at the end of dialogues section in the docs.

Re: Hotspot Function problem

Show another screen that receive parameters, not call a function.
Anyway using labels is not entirely wrong.

Re: Python item condition

Flying kicking in the discussion. Usually, when you KNOW the values of something, and the code is used by you, you can use simple python types and methods. What a lotta people there do with classes could be easily done in strict Python, that being mostly procedural it's easier to manage. They just a...

Re: telegram messenger

There's a bug in the remove last message function!
It throw an empty list error if you erase the first message in a sequence.
I don't have the exqct code right there, but it lack a check for an empty list before apply del[-1].

Re: drag-and-drop screen child problem

Two solutions.
One is to draw buttons with text on it already (not translable and not programmatical, but easier).
The other is to use as CHILD a frame displayable, that use that button as image and contain the text. Complex, and i dunno from where you retrieve the text, so no code for the moment.

Re: Move Character to the Front when Speaking?

In DDLC they solve the problem creating transforms for each position, one with normal zorder, and one with an higher zorder. It's a lil contrived solution, but chara callbacks don't work.

Re: Layered images and complicate conditionals

Edit: Sorry I just re-read the title - you're talking about the new layered images in 7.0? Ignore my post in that case! If you can't predict the actual character shown, how are you showing them at the moment? In my current game, I have my own character classes, so I tend to do something like this: ...

Layered images and complicate conditionals

I need to find the best efficient code for that. Mine is an hell of ConditionSwitch and probably I'm doing wrong. 4 characters, each one with 4 poses, each pose 3 epressions (tagged the same, but actually 'eileen winter happy' is different than 'eileen summer happy'). The additional difficulty is I ...

Re: Pseudo News Ticker

I've tried a lot of solutions, but having a rotating text image without knowing in advance the string lenght is quite hard. Anyway... SOLUTION A: ParameterizedText Good: is actually a text scrolling Bad: Renpy suck into scrolling stuff so the effect is not extacly nifty. image newstext=Parameterized...

Re: Importing Python scripts / TTS?

DDLC is corrupting a lot of people. If you're new to python implement external modules and learn how to make any class from them is out of your reach and for regular users to explain. I suggest you to ask a coder to join the project (hopefully free) cause a task like require a strong coding backgrou...

Re: Pseudo News Ticker

ParameterizedText and a transform that move it. A screen to show that. If you want for the list of news to cycle thru you also need a function that, when the actual list is void, fully restore it. Need 24 hours to show a working code. As for retrieve data from a website, avoid it. I usually play off...

Re: Dialogue callbacks

Wild guess, but probably the start interaction callback is something to try.
You don't have to check when text is rendered, but when the interaction is back to users after rendering.

Re: Another Rock Paper Scissors game

I can suggest you a trick to streamline the code. Instead of checking for each move, you can use a list like default winners=[0,1,2,0] Use numbers instead of strings ( rock is 0, scissors is 1, paper is 2) Same number, is a tie. If computer sign index is the very next in the list, you win. The check...
