Re: Nightmare House (still pondering on title)(horror, myste

While you don't have to, I would suggest changing the name of the VN. There is already a PC game out there called Nightmare House.

Is it possible to darken sprites without resaving them?

Hi, Is there a way to code the game in that when it gets to a certain area, all the sprites are darkened? (like they enter a dark room/cellar/lights go out). I know one way is basically to just darken the sprites beforehand in photoshop, declare it and then insert darkened sprites in that part of th...

Re: Question about Beta Testing

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies.

Here's a bit of a follow up question: Do the problems only appear if it's on a different operating system to your own (for example, I may use 7 while someone else uses Vista) or do these problems occur even when people are using the same OS?

Thanks.

Re: Question about Beta Testing

That JUST happened to me, actually. XD I tested on as many computers as I could get my hands on, but a little mystery bug popped up at the last minute and so far it's only affected a few people. My advice is to at least get some friends and family to give it a try on their own computers. At the ver...

Re: How Much Do Indie PC Devs Make Anyways?

Has there ever been a visual novel on Steam? Probably asking about more japanese ones, rather than something more western.

Re: Question about Beta Testing

These problems do occur, but python is relatively stable so you're running a risk but I wouldn't estimate it to be a large risk. Do you think you could give me an example and how you fixed it? I'm not so sure how you would go about fixing something that runs fine on your copy but not on someone els...

Question about Beta Testing

Hey everyone, of course beta testing is a huge deal, that fact I am aware of. However, we're currently trying to push a game out for a doujin convention and we're cutting it super close. (I'm not even sure we'll make it) My question here is directed at everyone here who has completed a game. Has the...

Re: Visual novels in Poland - Survey results!

Remember kids, IceD is strict and mean because he loves all of you and wants you to excel at school. :D Jokes aside, I do want to point out that if one part of your VN fails (art, writing, sound or execution) you do run a huge risk of alienating people before they even start. Especially if it's art,...

What is most important in a visual novel?

0.4% 1 vote Music and Sound

That...wow. I did not realize most people placed no emphasis on the sound part. Especially since I consider it pretty much as important as the storyline.

Re: Do you prefer NVL or ADV visual novels?

I'm honestly not sure I even understand half of the points you raise in favour of each method, though. ADV is easier to write? Contrarily, I'd always considered writing without any real enforcement of form easier than writing with restrictions. And I wasn't aware there was a single prescribed way o...

Do you prefer NVL or ADV visual novels?

It's a question I'd like to ask you guys because me and my editor are having a little argument. I'll just list the terminology in case people don't know what I'm talking about. ADV is where there's a text box below the sprites and the sentences come out line by line. NVL is where the text box basica...

Re: Writing problems

Tenses, huh? That's a tough one, our writer has a lot of problems with that xD (I play the tenses drinking game when I'm editing it, everytime he screws something up, I take a drink [of water, or else I'd die of alcohol poisoning]) It really depends on the situation, but I would say present tense i...

Re: Lemma Soft Community Collaboration Visual Novel game 2010

Mirielle, do you have a link to your art or anything? I'd like to see your level of skills. :D My dA: http://kacchi.deviantart.com/ I'm probably more adaptable than I think, but, eh, that's all I got so far. Just tell me what YOU would like, and I'll try to work it in. :D hey, that's pretty good. A...
