Re: How do I write a strong beginning?

Edgar Allen Poe commented that he wrote his stories backwards; that is, he decided what would be the mood of his story, how it would end, and THEN he wrote the intro to his stroy in the way that would be the best lead up to this mood and ending. Personally, as I am what is call a "Seat of the p...

Re: What do you want to see more of in EVNs?

Personally, I'm not so interesting learning what an audience wants, but rather with what I can get away with in my writing (and on that note, it gladdens me to see that there is an audience for the works of Gen Urobutchi and Shuzo Oshimi ^_^) If you're gunning for emotional abuse to the first degre...

Re: How to handle player interaction.

I think you should not really bother with this. If your story don't need interaction that's fine. But if you'r story provides the possibility to interact then that's great, too. In my opinion the story comes first. It's really hard to write one good story. But if you allow the player to make choice...

How to handle player interaction.

While my current vn project nears its finish, I've been trying to come up with a story for my next vn. But I keep running into a problem: how to write a story where the player can interact and effect the story. Basically, what are some of the ways VN's and their stories handle player choice and inte...

Re: Four ways to write a great story

I want to give my characters the freedom to write their own story; thus I am very much a SOTP writer. I don't think I'll ever be an "Edit-as-you-go" writer; I've found that I don't really understand my characters (and thus the story) until I've gotten a bit into the story (which means all ...

Re: Writing in a journal-like style?

I can think of two stories (neither VN though) that have used this style of writing (and to great effect): the novel-turned-anime "The Tatami Galaxy" and the light novel-turned-anime "My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong As I Expected." I absolutely love this style, though I have ne...

Re: Visual Novel Cameo Circle?

Too bad this would require having your game actually finished >_>

(First game, the artist is having trouble with her device; second game, I only started writing up a week ago)

Re: A Digital Ghost Stroy [Sci-fi][Drama]

Sorry for the late update (I scheduled yesterday quite poorly), but here it is now. Me and khanachi are currently in the process of making sure we have all the expressions we need for the game's sprites. This will involve some back and forth over the coming days and will hopefully not take to long. ...

Re: A Digital Ghost Stroy [Sci-fi][Drama]

Thanks for showing interest; hopefully it can live up to you're expectations :)

I was planning to provide a status update today, but it's late and I'm tired and my attempts at writing said status update turn out bad. So I'll save that for tomorrow ;)

Thanks for showing interest in the project. I've already found a sprite artist. As for backgrounds, the status of that is still kind of unknown.

Re: ExtraCredits on Early Access Games

Well first of all, I'll point to one game that I consider the role model of "Early Access" done right: Prison Architect. What makes this game so special? 1. The base game is there, that is the base experience of building and manage a prison is there. Early Access seems them building upon t...

Re: Need tips for finding artists

Yes, sure, but which artist has ever received negative backlash for refusing to work for free? (Unless said artist was a dick and publicly called the asking person names for even considering something as outrageous as working on a free project, that is.) Artists nowadays are in such a good position...
