Re: Drew's Improvement Process [Critique Very Welcome]

Been busy with work and stuff so not as much time for art as I would have liked. Some rough tree and rock sketches, I was looking at a tutorial for the rocks but cannot see a credit on it to give. Trying to do quick sketches and then redoing from scratch as a quick iterative learning process. Practi...

Re: misleading username [ critiques welcome! ]

Hi, Been buried by work. Yes that looks good, there are a few things with some of the less major perspective, but that's come a long way. Yeah, having the car off the road is no issue at all, that kind of thing can happen. If I get chance I'll mark up the couple of things I'd spotted, but looks good.

Re: BG art I'm working on. [would love concrit]

No worries - glad it was of help. Single point lighting (the sun, single lights) is easy it's just projecting straight lines, but yes, as soon as you have multiple light sources or secondary lighting/reflections it becomes much harder :( Once you get to that level I find it easier to approximate, th...

Re: I need a simple bedroom bg

That's a lot to ask for. You might be better off looking to commission a background artist, particular if it's for a commercial project.

Good luck with your game.

Re: What are legit pose references?

As has been said, references are just that, a reference or a starting point for your own work. No-one can fairly accuse you of copying if you're using a reference as a base, after all how would anyone make art if that was the case? Copying is when you take the majority of elements from one or other ...

Re: misleading username [ critiques welcome! ]

Hi, few shots of a paint-over the show things. I had to drop the quality to get them to a sensible up-load size so hopefully they're still readable. robovelociraptor_20170517_01_M.jpg 1, 2, and 3 point perspective. Everything had multiple points of perspective but normally for scenes you can 'cheat'...

Re: misleading username [ critiques welcome! ]

No problem; no excuse needed, everyone starts at 0; my figure drawing is terrible :) Thank you so much for the markup and the gif you made!! It's very helpful!! Thanks, glad it was of use. The principles around projections like that are really helpful for setting up a scene. It is actually on a hill...

Re: misleading username [ critiques welcome! ]

Hey, sorry for the late reply! You're free to do so! ^^ No worries, I've been busy as was. I've gone some quick mark-ups with notes on the drawing, I hope they make sense and are helpful. If you have questions, please let me know. I based my mark-ups around the characters, taking it that the figure...

Re: BG art I'm working on. [would love concrit]

Hi, Ha - isn't that the way, always too much to do. Scribbles_20170425.jpg I've given the three I saw the most to comment on a quick mark-up, it's brief but I hope it's some use. Yellow are note about lighting, green lines are horizons etc, and cyan lines are notes about perspective. I think you're ...

Re: Weaving a mystery

When it comes to splitting the mystery between routes, depending on what the mystery is, you could have the characters unearth different information and have it lead them to different possible conclusions. The trick of it to me, would be making the mystery flexible enough to allow for multiple inte...

Re: BG art I'm working on. [would love concrit]

Hi, I offered some thoughts on you're images a while back, I've been flat-out so got delayed, I was half done so I'll try and get it finished off over the next day or so. But that newer stuff looks like the perspective is a lot closer.

Re: misleading username [ critiques welcome! ]

Hi robovelociraptor,
I cannot offer much advice on the character art but I might have some thoughts for the images with a lot of background in if you're interested. Do you mind if I do a paint-over/mark-up?

Cheers

Re: Are there a One-scene games?

I would like to follow this example and make a game that happens with just one character, but also, just in one location. Do you know of games that done that? I think it's more about what works with the story that you want to tell. The scenes and characters required are going to be informed by how ...

Re: Weaving a mystery

I'm that person who turns on their complectionism only if they like the game. So, i don't like it when the game gives a subpar experience and then teases me with "the true ending" as if I need to play all these boring stuff to get to the great game. What I'm trying to say, make your routes complete...
