Re: How Ren'Py handles the memory?

On second thought, maybe should NOT disable caching, because renpy would have to apply alpha to each particle every time it is drawn, and that could cause performance problems. How about pre-computing the different faded versions of the particles? This is going to use more memory than not caching at...

Re: How Ren'Py handles the memory?

From the documentation : Caching. By default, image manipulators are cached in memory before they are loaded. Supplying the cache=False argument to an image manipulator will prevent this caching. This should only be used when an image manipulator is never used directly (such as by an image statement...

Re: Ren'Py 6.9.1 pre-released

I'd need to see the game to be able to properly diagnose a memory leak. (Along with instructions on how to experience the problem.) The problem was on my part. We are using xm files for music. I already prepared ogg files so I could test the game with the new renpy, but I didn't change the source y...

Re: Ren'Py 6.9.1 pre-released

Could you please email a copy of your game (made using "build distributions") to pytom@bishoujo.us? Thanks. I haven't been able to reproduce that crash again - I tried everything like the first time, I tried running the version of the game done with build distribution but haven't been able to crash...

Re: Ren'Py 6.9.1 pre-released

Not good... I downloaded the new prerelease, copied over the folder with our game (that worked in 6.8.1 and 6.9.0) and got the following: I'm sorry, but an exception occured while executing your Ren'Py script. error: Couldn't create window After initialization, but before game start. -- Full Traceba...

Re: Ren'Py 6.9.1 pre-released

Are people really building distributions often enough that the time it takes to compress two extra versions is substantial? When it's release time, probably yes (especially for first-time releasers), I had to do about 5 or 6 runs before I got everything right. Generally "releasing" or building a di...

Re: Enmaku [Czech AnimeFest 2009]

Unfortunately, none of us has the abilities to pull off a translation using several english dialects (I'm not even sure if brittish and american english would be different enough for this, not that we'd be able to do those). I think you could just keep the Czech and Slovak but it will be accompanie...

Enmaku [Czech AnimeFest 2009]

http://www.nantoka.info/enmaku/download/ Here's another game that was completed for the Czech AnimeFest 2009 - Enmaku. It tells the tale of two ninjas-in-training from two feuding villages and what happens after they meet one day in the woods. Some features: You can play the game from the point of ...

Re: 'autumn' [Czech AnimeFest 2009]

I see. Yeah, it's mainly my fault for not stating that *adds to description* and for not wanting to show any of the girls before the actual play. (muhehe :> ) Also, uploading 1.01 version at the moment. Hope I can finish the upload and you can finish your Aka route O: (Hmmm, I should apologize abou...

Re: If Statements

(except the fact that you can make all names like labels, functions and variables in a script file "local" to that file, so they don't clash with identical names defined in other files) Actually, this isn't the case. Right now, there's no way to make things local to a file. If there was, we couldn'...

Re: If Statements

It looks like I won't be able to do what I originally planned, is there any way I can jump to another .rpy script? Yes (like JQuartz said), but different files act exactly the same way as if everything was in a single file. While keeping different parts of the game in different files definitely hel...

Re: Editra Support

I'm not really one to talk, since I don't mind using a 150MB+ Eclipse just to get syntax coloring AND svn support for renpy developmentm but my two cents: JEdit is about 1.7 megs big. And that's for all three platforms. Plus the size of the JRE (I had to get a working renpy installation workin on a ...

Re: Bug with munging filenames with -

Well, we don't explicitly disallow it. So I will be fixing this in the next version of Ren'Py. I'll probably use a whitelist and escape all non-whitelist characters, rather than a blacklist on '-' and ' '. Cool, that might also solve the case when there are two file names called the same, but place...

Re: Proper way to rollback complex objects? Rollback overlays?

That would normally make the code quite uglier, but a bit of property magic tidies it again. And there you go, the saveable Creature wields weapons and drink potions that are never saved, but the inventory is always properly restored :P. How do you do it? I'm currently in the state where I have a d...

LiveCrop - undocumented or not supported?

I'm sorry that I'm spamming the forums lately, I have another question. I need to implement an imagemap, but with selected role support (switch on, switch off) and focus map support. I looked into the sourcecode, and I saw that the imagemap was implemented using a LiveCrop manipulator. Unfortunately...
