Re: Creating characters - your way of doing it?
That's a good point. There are, however, some cases where characters are what they are simply because they enjoy it... EG sadistic murderer type. They kill simply because they like the feeling of dominating the rest of the species around them. The difference between characters like this is... Chara...

Re: Creating characters - your way of doing it?
Since most of the time I come up with some topic for a story first, my process is rather complicated. As I said, first there is as topic, so I start thinking about what the story will be like, but every story will need some characters (even if it is only a narrator). So I think about what kind of ch...

Re: On characters
To make it easy: No.
If there was any software for that, we wouldn't need artists. The result you will get when drawing depends on talent, training and experience.
However, most artists use software like photoshop (or GIMP if you are short on money) to colour their work. Those come in really handy.

Re: The Last Snowflake
Nice screens, you got there. Guess once I am done with my graphical stuff I must start to look into coding, since your customized stuff looks pretty awesome.
Once this is out, I will definetly give it a try.

Not only dutch but german as well : Vereinigte Nationen. From the point of view of knowing a little German, someone speaking Dutch always sounds like a German guy who's really drunk... :3 I always thought they were the same thing. Live & learn. No they are not the same at all. If you speak germ...

How does a VN look like? :? VN stands for Verenigde Naties (Dutch: United Nations) so they look like: http://www.mapsofworld.com/images/world-countries-flags/united-nations-flag.gif Just kidding. Re: Universal Survey on Visual Novel Preferences
I'll make a start and hope that this helps people: 1. How many games on the Renai Archives have you played? d) 3 to 7 2. Of those games that you played, what made you most want to download them? d) The story preview interested you 3. As a creator, what do you believe is the ideal game length? c) 20 ...

Re: Most precious game in your collection?
I have 2 actually:
Grandia 2 (Pc-Version)
Final Fanatasy 8 (PC-Version)
Both have great story and gameplay and are reletively rare (at least where I live).

Re: A Public Thank You
Ever since I found out abour RenPy, I have further developed those skills I already had, but were not good at (drawing, composing...) I am still far from good, but finally I have a reason to improve. Hell, for the first time ever today I sketched something I was pleased with. I think I will eventual...

Re: What kind of choices do you prefer?
Actually I think it depends. It is just like in real life, sometimes a choice is pretty straight forward: Should I ask girl A out on a date or rather girl B? And other times chices are more vague. If I decide to take the train to work I might meet different people than on the bus. But I won't know b...

Re: 3d art vs hand drawn art
I mostly find, that handdrawn graphics have more feeling to the, than 3D-rendered. I can not imagine myself playing a visual novel with 3D-rendered graphics. I barely can get a feel for the characters looking at them. And since I am really a character person (meaning I would be okay with a bad story...
