Such subject matter needs to be handled with accuracy, tact, and subtlety. Characters should never be caricatures in any work (except for satire), but it's especially important to treat them with respect when they're generally underrepresented in fiction, etc. omygod, I was writing a little paragra...

Birthmark [GxB, Happy? Tragedy]
About a girl and boy who met in the hospital... but it's not a normal hospital. Erika (the main character) believes that they are all lying and knows that the hospital is for those with no more hope and end up dying soon. Some of the illnesses there are unknown so they were thrown into the hospital....
