Novelty: ScrollCanvas and Buttons Issue
So I've encountered a little technical hurdle in Novelty and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions: I have a ScrollCanvas filled with buttons. The buttons are supposed to direct to different pages (it's a Chapter Select). The buttons have an assigned position so that they're the same distance ...

Re: Visual Novelty: Dynamic Character Color Change / Game Lo
Hey 8oni, Thanks for the reply. Did you happen to figure out the second issue regarding a scrolling game log? I'm imagining that it requires setting up a canvas, linking the canvas to a "text" child-object that displays the game log, attaching a slider to the canvas, and setting the slider...

Re: Visual Novelty: Dynamic Character Color Change / Game Lo
Thanks, fleet. Maybe I'll see what 8oni has to say. If I find solutions, I'll post them here in case other people are interested.

Paws & Effect: My Dogs Are Human!
I don't know if this technically counts as a double-post, since I already created this thread in NanoReno16, but it's a short non-commercial game and we're still curious to hear people's thoughts on the demo while we continue to develop the full game. Thanks! http://www.fallenapple.biz/erotome/Paws_...

Re: patting head & touching, how?
To follow up on fleet's post, you could possibly do something like this: > Set the character's arm as its own actor (you'll of course have to crop it the right way so that it can be positioned how you want on screen when the actor "enters" the scene) > Create your page where the character ...

Visual Novelty: Dynamic Character Color Change / Game Log
Hey there (fleet, most likely), I'm trying to perform a few tricks in Novelty and I'm curious if anyone has suggestions. 1) I want to have characters take on a slight color change when they're the ones speaking, similar to what Fire Emblem does . Obviously, I could do the manual work of doing a chan...

Re: Present Tense or Past Tense?
English is not my first language, so I am having the same problems as you. I remember when I was in High School my English teacher said many times we always write stories with past tense. And that's pretty much what I did all the time back in High School. So I am writing my own VN currently with a ...

Re: Paws & Effect (Comedy) (NaNo2016) (DEMO AVAILABLE)
I've updated the Itch page with a slightly revised version of the demo - it fixes some small details and includes a proper attribution page. We are, of course, happy to anyone's thoughts on the demo, so please share here or elsewhere.

Re: Visual Novelty: BGM Crossfade Issue
Yeah, absolutely. Those forums seem kinda dead, but hopefully someone will find it helpful. I'll add that I still followed your advice of using "Stop BGM" and setting the fade out to a few seconds, but it seemed like using the crossfade option also worked. So it's more about how much contr...

Re: Visual Novelty: BGM Crossfade Issue
Thanks, fleet. I did find a workaround, actually, after much hassle. Basically, I had to tweak the Master Volume and BGM volume in the Novel Properties to be very low, and keep the BGM's volume relatively high, and that seemed to negate the spiking volume effect. It's strange, but it worked.

Re: Visual Novelty: BGM Crossfade Issue
Thanks for the response again, fleet. Yeah, I tried using the Stop BGM action before initiating a new track, but that same issue occurs as the crossfade. It's weird - for something so apparent, I would have thought there'd be more talk about it on the Novelty forums (maybe I'm assuming too much). I ...

Re: Paws & Effect (Comedy) (NaNo2016) (Up2: Title, Save Scre
Haha! I recognize where those background objects comes from. The Sims, right? (Looks to be Sims 3.) I was thinking about doing the same thing for a future project. It's a good way to save time. Good eye. Out of curiosity, how do you think you would approach attribution in such a case? Seems a littl...

Visual Novelty: BGM Crossfade Issue
Hey there, While implementing BGM tracks in Novelty, I've encountered an issue where a track set to crossfade into another will spike in volume before fading away, rather than simply fade away at its current volume. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my settings or computer, and browsing the Nove...

Re: Paws & Effect (Comedy) (NaNo2016) (Up2: Title, Save Scre
The demo is very nearly done, and just before the deadline to submit. Hoping to send it out into the world later tonight or early tomorrow. Our artist derived a rather creative solution to creating custom backgrounds (trade secret). Here's an example of an in-game background, before and after shadin...
