The plot is really interesting. No one can really do much critics right now, given that you've only given the synopsis and the character bios(which I think are great too.) Rather, asking for "General plot advice and input" is too blunt for pinpoint critics. Wait.. Here's a post from SelLi....

Crap. You won't believe how many times I got hit by this passage. x) Especially the characters' tendency part. When I write, some of my characters somehow 'not' act like how I want them to be. They just.. I don't know... Stray from their personalities. And it takes me a while to notice the character...
