Re: Dear Mariko [Short Eerie Horror, Romance]

Thanks for this neat little game! It shows just how much you can convey in a short time with effective art, pacing, and sound effects. I had to come back to the forum for an explanation of the ending, but now I get it! ::feels somewhat dim:: One of my early strategies was to read books until I got t...

Re: Possibly Odd Idea for Game Jam

@Juno, @HiddenCreature, @ibukichan, @JJupiterJump: Glad to hear it sounds like a neat idea! Thanks for your interest. Yup, a writing prompt in VN form was what I had in mind. And I agree, it could help people who might not otherwise use CC resources. @Alte: Ah, I should have looked more closely at y...

Possibly Odd Idea for Game Jam

Would anyone be interested in a game jam that requires you to use pre-selected sprites and backgrounds? It would be neat to see how different writers handle the same images. I'm not sure if an artist would be willing to create new assets for the jam, or if it's best to choose CC materials that are a...

You might also look at federal grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (see Art Works, http://arts.gov/grants-organizations/art-works/media-arts) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (see Digital Projects for the Public, http://www.neh.gov/grants/public/digital-projects-the-public)....

Re: Doppelganger : Dawn of the Inverted Soul [Guide up]

This story was so riveting that I finished all 31 endings, reread the canon ending, then deleted and unzipped it again to see the version without the unlocked bits. It kept me up until sunrise. I almost wished for a doppelganger who could stay awake and keep reading for me. :) You have some serious ...

Re: Three Guys That Paint [BxG/BxB] [NaNoRenO 2015]

Really enjoyed this -- thank you! :) Some answers to the questions in your first post... 1. First impressions in general? (On story, game type etc.?) Loved the character art and the retro fonts in the title. VNs that are set in specific cities appeal to me, and it was nice to see London-specific ref...

Re: Foreign Languages

You all know an impressive number and variety of languages! Adding my entry to the roundup... English is my native language. (I'm American.) Love it for its maddening inconsistencies, its fabulous literature, and its complicated history. Took Spanish for seven years in grade school; have been studyi...

Re: Spirit Parade [Otome/Asian fantasy] [Commercial] Demo ou

I'm with everyone who praised the gorgeous character designs and a protagonist who promises to have an interesting and potentially moving character arc. Also, KITSUNE. :-) The poetry fiend in me was thrilled to see Ariwara no Narihira and the Manyoshu quoted (and in Japanese as well as English!). I ...

Re: Your first ever video game.

I'm not sure if it was "Commando" for the C64, or if that stands out in my memory because of the music. ::pulls up the theme song on YouTube and quietly rocks out:: Might have been "Super Pipeline," though. Still don't know why that guy was shooting lobsters with a pistol. The ga...

Re: Types of games

Here are a few I played recently. Hope you find something you like! - Adrift (sci-fi, adventure): You said you enjoyed exploring, so here's one with great world building (and character development, pacing, and humor). There's romance, but I don't think it's the kind of "love story" you mea...

Re: Villanova University: Popular Culture Series

Glad to hear it was enjoyable! There's something about watching an audience fall under the spell of visuals, music, and story. (I can certainly see how this would happen with "The Elevator.") I hope some of them got the itch to try ren'py, given their interest in IF. Maybe we'll see them o...

Re: Anyone having trouble sleeping?

I turn most of my screen backgrounds dark grey and make sure that no light is shining directly on the screen. I've never seen anyone else do this, though, so YMMV. If you're having headaches in addition to insomnia, you might ask an optometrist for computer-reading glasses. (If you already wear glas...
