Re: Do you ever feel like your game is not good enough?
Well I ended up rewriting the beginning of what I'm working on atm, thanks curse! (No problem, I'll be back in a week!) Changed some other parts around too, like one of the character's introduction. Was originally pretty formal, little tension with another character though. So while I was looking ar...

Re: Question about the MC appearance on screen?!
Those bottom appearances.. Like avatars with their lines next to them? Always found that kinda cheesy in VNs.. especially if they use the same sprite that's in the center of the screen. Imo, it depends on the game. Umineko having Battler on-screen was pretty great. For some VNs, it's vital not to sh...

Same here.Ryuno wrote:To me, Voice Acting is a bonus as opposed to a necessity.
Besides, I read too fast.
The audio can't keep up with me, so I mostly hear half-sentences.

Re: Loading up Renpy VS Typing up a document
I initially (well, most of the time) type it all in wordpad first.
May or may not have several revisions.
Then once I open ren'py, I start copy+pasting it in, sometimes adjusting it.
So basically: wordpad=draft, ren'py=final.
Besides, jEdit acts annoying sometimes <.<

I can never decide on a single favorite, I always go with unranked lists.

Re: Do you ever feel like your game is not good enough?
Speaking of the creator's brain, I tend to overthink of every possibility of "what ifs." E.g. Is this plot A good? No no no it would lead to a disastrous result! How's about this plot B?" or something like that. It is also what held me back from completing projects. ): Lately I'm mai...

Re: Do you ever feel like your game is not good enough?
I once heard that a creative type's brain is always a little ahead of their hands. You have a more developed idea of what's good, of what you want to make, but your hands just can't quite replicate it as well as you envision it. And it's frustrating. I'd love to be able to print a copy of what I se...

Re: Sword-slashing VFX?
The basics are just drawing something white and then playing around with Outer Glow (Maybe Inner too) in photoshop.
Used to make them in Flash for lightsabers.

Re: What's your reason for making a visual novel? Since when
ketskari hit the nail on the head pretty hard. I made webcomics for years until it became tedious (My flame for Animating was also extinguished after my graduation project). Now you'll have to catch me on a good day to draw one. Explored photography and just writing too, but unless a Thought-to-Medi...

I have it all the time and it's terrible.
Then there's also comparing it to someone else's amazing work and inferiority kicks in

Re: Scene Title in corner
first of all, it should be Hide("s1" ...)- you need to supply the name of the screen as a string. second, Dissolve is a transition class and thus needs to be called with a delay argument. you probably mean dissolve, which is what you used originally. Ah yes, how the little things can mess...

Re: Scene Title in corner
From the little I got from that (I forgot to mention I don't quite understand the coding yet), the solution's a screen? screen s1: fixed: text "Scene Title" xalign 0.98 yalign 0.02 show screen s1 with dissolve "dialogue" Though that pretty much did the same as show text (Unless I...

Re: Potraying Emotions in Sprites
For my own (for now) I've decided to use 3~4 differently posed bodies per character, at least for the long-lasting ones. One might only have neutral and crossed arms poses (with maybe some head tilting), while a more important character will get an extra thinking pose, a hand on their side, situatio...
