Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

Nothing particularly stunning here, but for someone who is learning how to draw, today's doodle has turned out quite well for myself.

Re: Changing point of view

If My Heart Had Wings did this quite frequently throughout the story, and it always seemed to work out pretty well just so long as what was being shown was relevant to the main protagonist in some way or served to heighten dramatic tension by showing something that we as the player would learn and ...

Re: Last game you played?

I recently got and played through If My Heart Had Wings, which I have massively enjoyed (in fact, it is the only visual novel that even comes close to Katawa Shoujo for me). I've only completed the Kotori and Amane routes so far, but they have both been excellent.

Re: Best Anime Ever Watched?

Actually an easy question for reasons I cannot really figure out, but Kotoura-San is my favorite anime of all time. It's just so simple and charming, just a short little series that is all kinds of fun whilst being emotionally powerful and helped out by the inclusion of one of my absolute favorite a...

Re: What was your first story?

When I was in Kindergarten I wrote a short little comic called 'Superdog'. I believe I always had him facing off against his arch-nemesis: Fat Cat (who was actually quite complex as a character now that I look back on it, I gave him a tragic origin story and everything). That was really the moment I...

Re: Christmas Sweaters [GxB][Otome][Holiday Romance]

This was adorable.

An excellent little self-contained story with interesting characters and a terrific writing style, I really enjoyed Sam's inner monologue at those awkwardness points. Quite the nice little Christmas gift if I do say so myself.

Just posting this here because it may help if you haven't already visited this site, but the Voice Acting Club has some stellar talent, basically an entire community of aspiring voice actors.

Re: When making OCs and their backstory just....

I am quite convinced that I am a more cruel writing-god than even the likes of George RR Martin. My poor characters get sent through hell and back, and quite a few of them don't even make it... I must even admit the fact that I can manage to take a slice-of-life story that I was writing and end up k...

Re: The Curse of Unusual Yet Significant Names

My character in World of Warcraft is named Vyseris (which I had used as a name long before my discovery of A Song of Ice and Fire, which has a character named Viserys). Luckily, I've found that my tiny variation has helped immensely in being able to make people not bat an eye at the similar names, b...

Re: Amount of realistic profanity in VNs

Profanity is absolutely fine by me, and one of my current writing projects actually contains a great deal of it. Not by design, but by necessity: When you're writing about a gang of highschool drop-outs who are regularly getting into real street fights with the intention of seriously harming other p...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

Well... Here goes nothing, I am currently learning to draw (having never really given it much of a chance before), so here is my third ever attempt at a manga-style drawing. Luckily I've been helped along by the wonderful tutorials of Mark Crilley. Also, yay, this is (hopefully) just the first piece...

Re: Do you care about how many options there are?

Many games, especially AAA ones, claim to have tons of options, but they end up leading to the same conclusion. They're only illusions of choice. In that case, I'd rather have even just a single choice in the game, but that decision truly changes the outcome of the story. You know, speaking of Mass...

Re: Do you care about how many options there are?

I agree with most others on this topic, if each choice contributes something worthwhile to the work as a whole, then there can be as few or as many as suits the VN. However, I really do love choices that may not necessarily affect the story, but serve to meaningfully develop the protagonist. And thi...

Re: What's your reason for making a visual novel? Since when

My reason for choosing interactive storytelling, and specifically using visual novels as a medium, is centered in the moments in the stories I've experienced that were able to reach out and mean something more to me than just words on a screen. For whatever reason, the artform excels at bringing for...
