Withered Blade [Action/Romance][Demo]
https://i.imgur.com/Ahnusmc.png https://i.imgur.com/iPG4ZMP.png A world where people with grave sin in their heart can turn into demons. What would the future of such a world look like? Will demons with their inhumane powers be the future rulers of this world? Is there a way for humanity to stop th...

Withered Blade - Looking for feedback and testers
http://i.imgur.com/hYClC9u.png I have been working on a game for a couple years and it's finally in a state where it's ready to be reviewed. I'm looking to make a public release soon, but before then I'd like to have some people look at it. After all, so far, only the team has looked at it. The dem...

Re: Lock my project
.rpa is an archive format. Use extracting tools to read. I used the following tool to extract all of Fault Milestone. https://github.com/Shizmob/rpatool Renpy has tools to obscure the source files. However, you'll find that people will find ways to access the source files to all games if they want to.

Re: Automagically recreate project with smaller image sizes
I never thought about that. I guess anyone thinking of using this script could alternatively look into that.

Re: Automagically recreate project with smaller image sizes
I want my game to support players with any screen resolution. Big and small. I'm aware of the challenges involved with this.
Also: 4k surprisingly does not refer to the height of the resolution. 4k is only 3 times the resolution 720. Isn't that weird?

Automagically recreate project with smaller image sizes
I exported all of my project assets in 4k resolution, even though my default window size is 720. Ren'Py doesn't agree with this. Don't misunderstand, I'm not admitting my mistake. I haven't yet given up on having 4K assets. But until I find a solution,.. This python script creates a clone of a given...

Re: Sprites look blurry when scaled using im.Scale
Yeah, I've heard that it's been a thing since forever... Honestly I'd be fine with exporting lower resolution sprites. Filesize is only a very minor concern compared to fidelity and the resizing proces can be automated. But if I do end up doing that, I'll need to somehow dynamically reload all sprit...

Re: Sprites look blurry when scaled using im.Scale
I see. Thanks, good to know. It's strange this isn't documented better in RenPy. There has to be a way to support high resolution sprites though. I've seen VN games that look absolutely beautiful and crisp up to 4k and down to my laptop screen. Fault Milestone, to name one. I believe that one is eve...

Sprites look blurry when scaled using im.Scale
So I was very concerned for a while with how to deal with resolutions and all that mess in Ren'Py and was messing around with that. My main concern was (and kinda still is) in what resolution to export my graphics and how to import them into the game. After deliberation I decided to make my sprites ...

There is a different section on this forum for this called "Recruitement and Services offered". You might have better luck looking for a writer there. The link is: https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewforum.php?f=58 Notice the sub-forum "We are a commercial project looking for Partne...

Re: Juggling writing along with a fulltime job
I'll second Ghost of Crux. Habit works. I have long public transit travel time to work/school and I use that time to work on my script. Even though this is just an hour a day, it helps me be motivated to spend more time on it later as well.

Re: Curious how others update their games or..
Hmm, you could release a patch if you really wanted to... It's just that Renpy does some funny stuff with compiling all data. If you wanted to release an update I imagine your updater would have to unpack assets, add/change assets and repack everything in order for it to work... It can't be that har...

Re: Unlockable Routes: POV change
The VN Katahana is all about this. Sort of. Instead of making choices conventionally, you pick which POV to take at certain points, which gradually changes the path you're on. And different paths are also the same thing happening from a different POV. It's really neat but it made for every path afte...

Re: Feedback on music licensing?
I'm guessing no one's responding because no one really knows. So here's my educated guess based on experience outside this forum. Usually when there's music for a game, it's tailored to that game specifically. Which is to say, the artist doesn't intend to sell it to anyone but you. You can probably ...

Re: How do you Start out as a VN Writer/Programmer?
Here's some advice from a guy who did start out on a huge project with no prior Ren'Py experience. Don't start out on a huge project with no prior Ren'Py experience. UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT TO. I've been working on this behemoth for 4 years now and frankly it's not going particularly well. It's horri...
