Re: Looking For Games to Review!

Hey guys!

I have a new review up.

http://zirconaworks.tumblr.com/post/145 ... new-planet

I have another review due, but as this game is of a shorter length, I thought now was as good a time as any to give it a fair shake. Have a good night people, and thank you!

Re: Looking For Games to Review!

Hi Quelcezot, Thanks for your review...of my review! You mention that I don't discuss pacing very much in my analysis, which is a fair point. Rest assured that my position that there is too much within the plot is also based upon the fact that the plot is not long enough to introduce all of these el...

Looking For Games to Review!

Hello folks, I've recently started a blog to document progress of my design projects. http://zirconaworks.tumblr.com/ That's all well and good, but the best way to learn, in my opinion, is by examining the work of others and writing up a fair and detailed analysis of their art or product. So: If you...

Re: 2D Dungeon Exploration Mechanics in Ren'py

I actually suggest that you try Adventure Game Studio if you're looking for a dungeon-based/point-and-click game. It's totally free to use and is incredibly simple, yet the applications are broad. Ren'Py has a lot of potential but you might be better off using another engine.

Re: The VN or The KN?

As a story teller (and not a game maker) many, many times I wonder... do people really believe they can "modify the story" or "customize the story" to their taste? Do a VN player really have such power? Or is he/she always tied to what the VN creator(s) previously planned? Maktub? Use your illusion...

Re: Is music important in a game?

For me, music is a huge part of the storytelling/hearing experience. I cannot imagine that a game like, for instance, Project ZERO (Fatal Frame for you Americans) would be as effective had it not had the sound suite it did. In saying that, music can also ruin the experience if done poorly. While I l...

Re: Why so many unfinished VN?

In my humble opinion, the reason so many visual novels never are completed are simply because there are no reasons for the developer to complete them. Let's put it this way, if you are a hobbyist illustrator/writer/developer/etc, then your enjoyment of the process is probably going to be your greate...

Dude, I don't know if you work alone or in a group, but the visual novels you are churning out are just marvelous. I have to say I really enjoyed 'Locked In' and I just finished downloading this and am preparing to give it two thumbs way up.

Re: GUI and Logo Inspiration?

The best logos are ones that can work in black and white. Game logos and film emblems always have more bells and whistles than their counterparts in the corporate or consumer end, but if they are simplified you find that, again, they will convert to black and white and still be recognizable. Therefo...

Re: Act Of Mercy [Mystery]

Thanks!

The illustrations in this game are mixed-media, combining 3d models with digital painting to create a 2.5D look. Software includes the Autodesk and Adobe suites, but more than you might think was painted by hand. The music was also produced using software similar to Sibelius.
