[OPEN] Sprite artist looking for work!
Hi! My name is Mandy (it's been awhile!), and I'm a 2D animator and visual development artist . I'm open to creating sprites and 2D animated idle sceens for your game! (Animated idle screens are currently closed due to issues with my equipment, but you're free to look at the samples and discuss poss...

Re: Looking for 2D artist(s) and Music/Sound Designer
This idea is really interesting! Would this be an alien setting or more similar to earth (human looking characters and torn down cities, etc.)?

Re: Whats the common format for assets?
For .jpg, there's usually two issues: 1) transparency and 2) the fact that it's a lossy format, so it might not adapt well to different screens. I'd feel safer with .png.

Re: Are you sceptical of games using pre-made assets?
Not at all, actually. I take it more as a sign of someone who's very strong in one area (usually writing, which is what matters most anyway) and is very dedicated to their project, enough to try and make it fly on their own.

MUCH EXCITE 1) I like Riley. I kind of love characters who get easily jealous and flustered haha and that combined with the the "not so streetsmart" characteristic means there'll probably be some interesting interactions with him. (I kind of want him to be with the MC now tbh oops) 2) Hm, ...

Re: Where to Learn Digital Art for Complete Beginners?
Ctrlpaint.com assumes you know absolutely nothing, which is great because you can pick and choose videos. Since you claim to be a complete beginner, I'd just watch as many as possible! He goes through all of the necessary stuff, in terms of knowing Photoshop, knowing how to draw, and even keeping yo...

Re: Commissioning Problem
My dad is an orchestral conductor and he told me something fairly interesting about the music industry that I think can apply to artwork, as well. Often, musicians are paid for a certain amount of rehearsals and a final performance (usually between 1-3 rehearsals for a small amount of songs). He sai...

Re: Random outcome no matter the choice?
Hm, I don't know. While it would feel realistic to have, say, another character's randomized choices affect an outcome, it might be a bit annoying to never be able to reach all the endings if the computer chooses against that option. Maybe one of the options could be to allow another character to ha...

Re: Drawing characters: Anatomically correct vs. looks good
I try to have both, but balancing it out in this sense - since my work is stylized, I try to be anatomically correct in the sense that the muscles are in the correct location and some proportions are maintained (wrist at the middle, elbow at the waist). I notice that, if there's a general sense of f...

Re: Green Tea Latte [All Romance] [B/G x B/G] [Cafe Sim]
1. First impression in general? (On story, game type etc.?) Okay, the absolute first thing that caught my eye is the amazing character design. Oh my goodness!! I loved the story, just for the fact that it's simple and can make way for conflict in many ways. 2. Any characters that you already intere...

Re: Non-english players in these forums?
It's more work, but if you're willing to do the translation/hire someone, it's definitely a bonus! It can't be a setback since it's just an option, anyway, and your VN will appeal to more people.

Re: How to Make Your Characters Relevant to Your Story?
Well, one way I've seen be done (though I can't recall where) is giving the protagonist some skill or whatever it may be so they're the only ones who can access the source of salvation. Maybe only the protagonist can talk to the cosmic being, even if it's just because they stumbled upon their secret...

Re: Colour: Above or Below Shading? (digital)
I personally do a bit of both, I guess? I have my base colors under a multiply layer of shading, but afterwards, I may use adjustment or overlay layers to make the colors more saturated and varied. While most of my color work tends to be under the shading (at least where I'm really thinking about co...
