Re: Reluctance to share ideas

Adopt a nihilistic mindset. It doesn't matter if someone steals your ideas. Ideas are important, very important. It doesn't matter how well you write or draw if you lack inspiration. If you don't have anything significant to build on, the best you can hope for is meaninglessness and mediocrity. If s...

Re: Nobody Knows [KN | Slice of Life]

From what I can see of the screenshots, it seems like you're going to be using that interesting shadow effect in-game. I like how it appears to make the character stand out from the background, and indeed the text bubble. How literally should I interpret the premise by the way, will the player accom...

Re: Just rolling with your story's development?

My experience more or less matches Kailoto's. I'd say that drifting from your original premise is fine and natural, and can be effective so long as it fits into a cohesive whole. Some people operate best when they work parallel to highly developed plans, others write what they see in their heads at ...

Re: Handling Fight Scenes in VNs

I'd say, narrate what happens as 'usual'. Except adapt based on your narrator's perspective, I normally go first person for VNs. If the fight is frightening or meaningful in some way for your character you should be able to reflect that without using extra gimmicks. It's just down to the quality of ...

Re: New Planet [Strange Romance]

I like the art. I think they are new, unique and intersting. and I really like how you made everything yourself. *thumb up* So I downloaded and played the game (didn't finish it yet) I like how at the beginning the scene close up as she starts walking. but then there is a menu: "keep going&quo...

Re: Commission review system?

I think that encouraging reviews is a very good idea, however like others I think that using a number rating system would be flawed. In fact, possibly more strongly than others I think this would be a bad idea. "This person took my money and never contacted me again." is about as damning a...

Re: 5 Question Survey on VN Preferences

I agree with Tempus about the lack of support for equal preferences.

I'd be mindful of how closely the orders really represent how people think.

I've answered honestly though to the best of my ability, and hopefully you'll get some interesting results!

New Planet [Strange Romance]

http://i.imgur.com/2J7h2tN.png Download here! A story about Mary, and two strangers. New Planet is a strange romance set in a strange place with strange characters, strange art, and strange music. All of the assets are made by me, with the exception of the wind sound effect courtesy of Mark DiAngel...

Re: How is your project going (or not going)?

I'm procrastinating constantly, but working at a steady pace. I'm working with wonderful people and I won't give up. There are not enough hours in the night, the sun is too hot. I'm considering starting up a small new project in the meantime to gather feedback on my own style, but that will be a cha...

[...] Sorry, it's not my intention to start an off-topic debate here, especially when there are so many others on the same subject. I've even included the links. See you there. @ myself: do state your opinion / don't hikack other people's threads. Rereading my reply, I came across as more "pas...

I can see you are referring to VNs as a 'medium'. There's an old discussion. See 'Visual Novels are a genre not a medium': http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27977 and 'Rules on the Visual Novel as a Medium': http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29323 Perso...

Re: What are some Do's or Don'ts in your opinion?

I think that there are a lot of really good points in this thread, the only one I don't currently see being made is that while it can seem attractive to veer towards extremes - a golden mean is often good as well. For example, it's all perfectly well to make a game that only you could like - but for...

Re: Some quick questions for tumblr users

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, we've had 25 responses to the survey and although that's not nearly enough to be considered representative it's still useful as an insight into how some people utilize tumblr. The forums won't really benefit from having this thread up too much longer so I'll be ...

Re: On Forum Rules and Moderation

The thread that spawned this one had two points: I am non-binary and want to make a game with a non-binary character but I'm afraid no one would like it...I'm afraid I'm the only one here. 1) Am I alone here? 2) Would anyone play a game with a non-binary character (i.e. would something that speaks ...
