Re: Your take on Zero Fund VNs
I didn't know that website, but it looks pretty neat. A little warning, though : you will have to refund them once your game is released. By the way, I'm not sure you will be able to fund your game as soon as you start working on it. Usually, it's easier to convince people with a few visuals, and pe...

Re: Should I release incomplete visual novel now?
What I'm terrified of (and I'm not even lying when I say it's kept me up at night) is it turning into a Yandere Simulator/YandereDev situation. Like I said, a fanbase already exists, and I'm scared that if I show a demo, expectations will be so high for it (especially with the fact that I'm working...

Re: Should I release incomplete visual novel now?
I'll be honest : even if I like the demo, if the game is only released 2 or 3 years after, I probably won't remember it. Unless you can convince me with the demo to follow the game's development on social networks, perhaps ? Personally, I prefer a good, intense and short campaign (2 month before the...

Re: How can I get volunteers to make faster progress on a game?
Honestly, I don't think there is an easy solution. Alianora-La-Canta gave very good advice about how to manage the project and the team. If you already put these advices in practice, I'm afraid there is little more you can do. It's a fan-project and they are volunteers. If they don't have the time/m...

Re: Chapter vs. Whole Game Release
As a player, I don't like to buy games chapter by chapter. Since I don't know how many chapters there will be, I don't know how much it would cost in the end. I also don't know when/if the game will be finished. As a developer, I don't like it because I'm not that good at coding. I'm not sure I will...

Re: Visual Novels for children?
There's definitively a lot of visual novel aimed at children, but usually, the term "visual novel" is not the one that is used. It's more often promoted as a "interactive story", "interactive book", "living book". I even saw some promoted simply as "e-boo...

Re: How much should you pay a musician?
It depends a lot of who you are hiring. There are country where the cost of living is less high than others, and some amateurs/hobbyists/semi-pros tends to really underprice themselves, so it might be possible to found someone who would work for so little. However, to be honest, I would probably buy...

Re: How do you pay for Kickstarter assets?
Personally, I prefer to only launch a crowdfunding campaigns when the project is nearly finished. It allow me to have a lot of things to show, things that are true to the final product, and it also allow me to publish the final product shortly after the end of the campaign, when people are hyped abo...

Re: Market Study : illustrations and animations commissions in VN
Mutive : Thank you for answering ! Your answers are really helpful ! 5)To be honest, this is the kind of budget I expected for a VN project. I also doubt there is a lot of projects who put tens of thousands into it. I'm still hoping that someone tell me I'm wrong and that they are, actually, VNs pro...

Re: Is is Worth to Release Your Game on Steam to Reach Wider Audience?
As a user, I like using steam and I download frequently free VNs there. (I buy a few too.) However, I don't always have time to play what I've downloaded (even when I paid for it), and even then, I think I've never left a review ? Of course, not everyone is like me, I'm just sharing my habits as a c...

Re: What do you think about VR visual novels?
Yeah, totally agree with it. Maybe only 5% of players have it at home. But now the VR is much more affordable. You can buy Oculus Quest for $300, if I remember correctly, and play it without a gaming PC. Also, it is totally possible to create a simple VN playable with and without VR. It depend of y...

Re: What do you think about VR visual novels?
I like the idea of a VR VN, and I definitely think it would be worth exploring for game design sake. And if well implemented, it is indeed a way to be noticed and stand out. However, there's two point to keep in mind : 1) Most visuals novels' players don't have a VR set 2) I don't know how much it c...

Re: Best way to do sprite poses
Just changing the arms (and the hand) can help convey a lot. If well made, it can even look dynamic and natural without changing the rest of the body at all.
(And of course, you will need different facial expressions, but I don't count it as different poses.)
