Actually, it's rather easy to see your assets on Mac too (if you don't archive them), you just need to right-click the programme and select "Show Package contents" instead of "Open"
(Just to tell you your art is not safer in MacOs than in Windows)

Are your other images in the images folder too ? What happens if 1) you suppress the line image redheart = "redheart.png" (if your image is in the images folder, the image definition should be automatic) 2) you change that line with image redheart = "images/redheart.png" (I'm not sur Renpy is lookin...

Have you defined the layer "heartposition" somewhere ? (because that's where you ask the heart to appear...)
