I don't think that you can call it a Visual Novel. It's more like Dear Esther. Adventure game without puzzles, but with lots of text and thoughts.

Tokyo Ghoul season 2. The manga was great, first season was..mediocre, but this...I thought that when Ken accepts his ghoul nature he would be stronger, but NOPE. And the ending... what the hell was that?? I don't understand... I just don't understand why creators made such ending instead of epic ba...

You can find some free visual novels on steam. For example Narcissu, Sunrider and Everlasting Summer. The last one made by...russian developers, if I'm not mistaken, but still it's pretty good.
