Re: When creating the story...
I agree heavily with what has been mentioned previously. If your inspiration are Key VNs, however, may I ask exactly of those VNs inspires you? Is it the large cast, the general themes and stories they present, what exactly? A lot of VN writers handle a large cast fairly decently, and one of the sug...

Re: Horrified--Games DO need warning labels.
Using the marketing to create very false expectations is something that has happened a number of times in games. It can be used well to completely subvert expectations for narrative purposes. Hell, I've seen at least one game do it on this forum and it was executed to a degree that I enjoyed it. It'...

Well damn, I didn't realise this was out so soon. Will definitely be reading it. The art looks beautiful by the way.

Re: How Important Is Movement/Action During Dialogue
I think it depends on the scene itself. I wouldn't say it's always necessary, but you can certainly use it to accentuate things in certain situations. Such as using the repeated sips of coffee to highlight a character's nervousness and anxiety for example. Assuming it's in CG form, you could also us...

Recruiting for a short Post-Apocalyptic KN
Hey guys, I'm recruiting for a small and relatively short project that I have written pretty much to completion already. It's an old piece of writing I did and touched up on, which I think would also work well as a kinetic novel and the first game that I finish and actually release to the public. As...

Re: Mixing art styles in a project
Assuming you're referring to sprites and BG or even CG, that's quite common anyway. Granted, it is jarring, especially if the art style between sprites and CGs containing the same characters look vastly different. I think if you purposefully mixed different art styles to enhance parts of the story/w...

Handling the typical bland protagonist
I'm thinking of a way to potentially handle the generic bland protagonist that we see in many visual novels. Everyone who plays VNs will have almost certainly had a run in with one of these, the guy made too relatable, with no real defining characteristics to them apart from how bland and lifeless t...

Re: Relating to a character in a fantasy or SciFi story
I second heavily what Mammon said, you don't need to necessarily make them relatable but want to make people wish to relate to them. Obviously, it helps a lot, but understanding the character is what I try to achieve, rather than relatability. Take Shirou Emiya for example, he's a massively broken k...

Re: What are the big NOs of writing
As others have said, the problem with these questions in general is that the answers for this are completely subjective. I'd say to first try and reflect on what you personally view regarding each of these questions, and then use that information to further expand upon your writing. The problem with...

Re: How did you learn to draw?
I'm not an authority on the subject, because my art is awful and I'm very on and off with my drawing habits (as in I stopped for years and barely do it now haha). I originally learned by drawing characters from my favourite games, mainly Sonic characters. Naturally, this left my general grasp on ana...

Re: Has competition an engaging or discouraging effect on yo
It's kind of ironic in my case. I'm always feeling inferior but it tends to help me during competitions as it's the only time I tend to push myself. Of course this tends to backfire since 90% of the time I still mess up but it's worth the effort in my opinion. Bascally it encourages me massively but...
