Re: Background art on the cheap [busy]

Your artwork looks amazing! Do you have any experience with futuristic or scifi themed backgrounds? I see your status is currently busy, do you have a timeline of approximately when you may be available again? Working on a (hopefully) commercial game and am looking for a bg artist, would need severa...

Rollback transitions or fades?

Hey all! I was just playing a VN Solstice and I noticed that when you use the mouse wheel to roll back during a dialogue, it does about a half second fade to a black screen before bringing the background back up and re-typing the dialogue, and I really liked the look of that. I think it looks a lot ...

Re: Help with understanding variables in conversation

Thank you Kivik, I appreciate the added explanation. I went back and checked and you are correct in that it only crashed when I chose the alternate path.

Thank you as well for the tutorial on the use of the

Code: Select all

 tag! ;)

Re: Help with understanding variables in conversation

I was able to figure it out, so I'll post what I did, just in case someone else comes into this same scenario.. I created a "default snitch = False" (must use capital F) command before the "label start:" command at the top, then changed my "$ snitch = yes" to "$ sn...

Re: Noob to professional game creator?

I apologize for the late reply, I didn't receive any notification that there had been any other posts on this thread and stopped looking at it. Morchella and Mishii, I appreciate the advice as always, never feel the need to apologize for being honest. I didn't want to get into the money aspect too m...

Re: Help with understanding variables in conversation

It's not showing my indenting when I copy/pasted on the forum for some reason, but I have all the text after Menu: indented, then indented again after my IF and ELSE statements..

Help with understanding variables in conversation

Hello all! I'm having a bit of trouble with my coding and would love another set of eyes to see where I went wrong. I'm working on adding variables into conversation, and this is the code I've input in ren'py: menu: " Tell him about the person in the closet.": $ snitch = "yes" ju...

Re: Mannequin - A 2D Character CG Generator

Website looks great! I imagine a lot of creators will be using this generator for their characters. As someone with no experience in drawing, this is exactly the kind of program I've been waiting for! Keep up the good work!

Re: Noob to professional game creator?

Papillon , were you part of the team that created Long Live the Queen? I clicked on your link and saw the game there. That is actually the one VN game that I've played and had fun with it! I actually have Science Girls in my wishlist as well, but haven't gotten it yet. I've put my video game playin...

Re: Noob to professional game creator?

You might be right about the demo SundownKid , I'm going to have to put a lot more thought into it.. I still want my first game to be a polished, very professional looking game, but maybe releasing a demo to garner interest initially is the best plan. User feedback would only create a better final p...

Re: Noob to professional game creator?

(How are you guys pulling someone's previous comment and adding it to your own comment to respond?) I guess I'm still not fully understanding the importance of putting out a small project first..? I don't know how much experience I would gain as far as marketing and releasing goes, as sundownkid com...

Re: Noob to professional game creator?

I'm sorry that you weren't able to complete your first project, a year and a half is a lot of time to invest in something that never reached completion. But I definitely understand where you're coming from. And don't worry, I don't find what you were saying unfair. I know what I'm attempting now is ...

Noob to professional game creator?

Let me start off by saying I know I'm going against conventional wisdom, pretty much everything I've ever read on this forum and I may sound like a complete fool, but I remain optimistic! So this will be my first visual novel game created, but I want to make it a solid, full length commercial game. ...
