Re: Running a game with command line arguments?

OK that seems to work. Thanks. For anyone else reading this with the same problem this is what I did. I made two test games and made Windows x86 builds (this game is Windows only as some of the other non-Ren'py parts are made with software that can only build for Windows). Folders as follows: TopLev...

Re: Running a game with command line arguments?

I was thinking about keeping the overall file size down. Could I do as you suggest and have the separate exe files share the same game assets, libraries, etc?

Game without menu?

Is it possible to start a Ren'py game immediately? I.e. without the opening menu, as if the player had already clicked 'Start'.

Running a game with command line arguments?

I'm making a game that is in sections and only some are made with Ren'py. All controlled from a launcher made with Clickteam Fusion. I want to be able to run a Ren'py game multiple times but each time I run it I want it to start at a different point in the game. I was thinking that perhaps I could r...

Re: Saving values changed in screens

Think I've cracked it. The point "Screens generally don't hold data, they generally show data" put me on the right track. The problem was that I was trying to run python code in the screen without handing control back to Ren'Py so that when I saved only the data changes up to the last Ren'...

Re: Saving values changed in screens

Thanks for responding. Yes I have seen these pages - I've been reading the documentation and this forum and somehow I seem to be fundamentally missing something. A brain? I have done a reasonable amount of programming in different languages and I've managed to make a fair number of games. But someho...

Saving values changed in screens

I've spent quite a bit of time scouring the forum for an answer to my question but the more I read the more confused I get. I wonder if someone could possibly write the simplest possible code example for me so I can finally understand. I want to call a screen and change data on that screen. I want t...

Re: The Town Called Data [Atmospheric][Satire][Psychological

Played through and enjoyed it. Liked the graphics and the animations. Wasn't crazy about the music. Playtime more like 45 mins than 30. Enjoyed the theme - thought the humour worked well and stopped it feeling heavy handed. Hope lots of people play it. Did notice some typo's some of which I noted do...

Re: Strawberry Jam [Horror]

Played it through and enjoyed it. A fun short form game with a macabre charm. Liked the graphics. A few typos - mostly missing words. Hope my own first VN is as enjoyable as this.

Re: Brutus: A Shoujo Visual Novel

I'm new to Visual Novels so I come at each new one I play with an open mind and little in the way of prior expectation. And I have to say I've been really enjoying this. I keep coming back to it and trying another path through the game. Love the art style and a lot of the humour really worked for me...

Re: [redacted] Life (Horror/Comedy) (NaNoRenO 2016)

I found this game quite astonishing. I'm new to Visual Novels, having only played a few in recent days, and I had no idea that they could like this. I found it funny, chilling at times and very inventive. Really, really good. I played it right through to the end in one sitting. Even as a VN noob I h...

Re: The Doll and the Spider (NaNoRenO 2016, Horror, KN)

Hi! I'm new to these forums and new to Visual Novels. I'm interested in exploring Ren'Py as I have an idea for a story-driven game I want to make. So I will I daresay be making a lot of use of these forums at some point. But I registered now so I can say how much I enjoyed your game. I've played one...
