That's a very thorough answer. Thanks. I may have communicated badly: I'm essentially lazy and want to avoid studying unnecessary things on my way to Ren'Py mastery. The obvious but wasteful route would be to learn Python and pygame rigorously, read docs, study Ren'Py source, and then study cookbook...
