Re: Questions about SnowBlossom and how to optimize it?

---- Do you have any examples of how zorder is used? How would I apply this to fix my problem? Would I write something like, "show snow at zorder 1"? ---- Almost, it should be; show snow zorder 1 and you would want a high number for the image to go on top of all other images, so maybe; show snow zo...

[CLOSED] Looking for Friendly Programmer to be Paid Monthly

Hi there! I'm in need of a programmer who is proficient in Ren'py and friendly to boot! Why friendly? Because ideally I'd like someone who I can message via Discord to help me solve coding problems and who can generally help me get better at using and implementing code for Ren'py very specifically. ...

Questions about SnowBlossom and how to optimize it? (Solved)

Hey there! This is my first time ever posting in the Ren'py Questions section of this forum, so hopefully what I write will make sense and be clear. I'm an amateur coder who has finished 5+ games in Ren'py, and I like to use very simple coding to get stuff done, I don't really need many bells and wh...

Re: Image compression

I've been using this program: http://optipng.sourceforge.net/ for the past few weeks and not only is it really simple to use (just drag and drop items over the .exe) it's also free and you can compress multiple images at once without much hassle at all. Best used for .pngs, especially those with tra...

Re: How to make the BG and Sprites work well together

Make a layout mock-up. Get everyone on the same page on the general placement of sprites and size of the text box. Set up a drive/folder where everyone can drop off their files. Both of these tips are so good! Getting text box size figured out first and fore most helps a lot with projects in general.

Re: How to make the BG and Sprites work well together

Lots of visual novels have different style backgrounds than they do sprites! I would say the VAST MAJORITY do, actually! As most backgrounds are drawn/made by someone different than the person who made the sprites. (Not to mention all of the games that just use photos for backgrounds! There's nothin...

Re: i'm thinking of making a free to use character sprite

Hi there! Your style looks great! 1) I want a character with lots of expressions, but more so ones I can mix and match. Sprite sheets that include separate eyebrows, eyes, and mouths, in all different folders work the best! A .psd is a must have. 2) What Zelan said seems right! But, I will also add ...

Re: Shading advice for a beginner! (advice needed)

With shading, I think it's important to keep in mind that it doesn't need to be perfect or super duper realistic (though it does help to do a bit of research and keep in mind your "light source") but more so it needs to serve a purpose! :D Shading can be a great way to push forms forward and get a b...

Re: Art feedback

You definitely have a good start with your shading, and the colors you're picking are helping you keep that bright, colorful pallet which is a good thing! Lots of promise here and a very cute design too. I would say focus more on where shadows should fall, and why. Most pieces tend to do well when c...

Re: What's your favorite Boy x Boy visual novel on Itch?

Those are some nice collections you've got! :D I want to first of all recommend First Kiss at a Spooky Soiree and Her Tears Were My Light for your GxG collection! These two both offer really cute and sentimental short experiences and I love them so much! For you BxB collection, I'm gonna go ahead an...
