I can't seem to find any email from you Markus. Would you be able to send it through again?
Strange..? I actually sent it already on Sunday. I wonder if it ended up in spam? Regardless, I sent it again and just to make sure I’ll send you. PM in a sec :)

Re: Ideal Volume

What Imperf3kt said is an easy solution. It has its down sides though. If you normalise everything with the same setting, pieces that are supposed to be soft, now sound very loud next to tracks that are more loud of themselves. For example a soft and heart aching track sounds as loud as a big bad ac...

Re: Best microphone for voice acting?

Microphones are a bit tricky. Each microphone has their own sound. Some of them fit better with other voices. Others fit better with others. Instead of jumping into the "what [GEAR] makes X better" train, let me suggest a few things that don't require money. Condenser microphones (the microphones us...

Re: Record Problem

A microphone captures only what it is aimed at. How is your routing/recording process? You have to bring a separate audio file in to a DAW - a digital audio workstation (Pro Tools, Reaper, Cubase, StudioOne etc.) - which is the backing track. Then you record your performance on a separate track in t...

Re: How would I make bgm that sounds like it came from a 90s/2000 vn?

Writing period music is easier said than done. What program is not so important as what instruments, musical idioms and how all of that is later produced. 90’s and early 00’s have a distinctive sound that originates mostly from pop and rnb of the era. Hip hop influenced a lot of it and the music ind...

Re: Poor Sound Design or No Sounds?

Like LateWhiteRabbit said, it is a go big or go home situation with sound design and music. Poor execution or unfitting decisions in these two, most likely damage the experiences the players would otherwise have. They give no extra value at best or anything from annoyance to pushing players away fro...

[PAID] Your Next Composer – Professional & Educated

G’day! My name is Markus Lappalainen. I am a recently graduated Finnish composer living in Norway. Since early 2014, I have been composing music for games and short films with a professional aim and attitude. The definitive high point of my journey so far was the honor of receiving an award-diploma ...

Re: How to communicate with composers?

What D.ray said was very good. I might just add one thing. Leave the music theory to the composer. Yes, learn the basic vocabulary like D.ray said but don’t waste your time in learning what chord progressions or melodic sequences produce a certain feel or what combinations produce a result X. The co...

Re: Creating music for VN

There isn’t any should or shouldn’t use instruments or effects that are special or must have for VNs :) The more proper question is: “What style of music serves the narrative best?” Then you ask: “What instruments are in the style I have chosen?” Think in terms of overarching concept and style. Jump...
