Re: Your Daily Routine as a Creator?
I'm doing my best, but there's a reason why I posted in Ideas and not Works In Progress. lol My daily routine now is getting ready for work, coming home in the afternoon to write a few things I thought about, maybe work on music, and then repeat the next day. Art...yeah, I need to work on that! Ahhh...

Re: Creating the Perfect Intro
This is a rockstar introduction. Good job! Your writing style flows well from one thought process to the next and I felt that everything you shared was entirely relevant to the portrayed scene. Honestly, I have nothing to critique here. So instead I'll just share my opinion of what can potentially m...

[Anime Art] How do I make my characters look older?
There are a lot of anime with teen characters, and while I've been using those as a wonderful reference for my art direction I'm not quite sure how to make my characters look like adults...whilst keeping the cute aesthetic. What do you think makes a character look older, using anime art as a referen...

Why do some visual novels remove auto scrolling?
I noticed that a lot of visual novel creators are removing the option to auto scroll text from the gameplay screen and I was curious about that design decision. Personally, I do like auto scrolling because it allows me lie down out of arm's reach of my laptop.

Re: How do You Stay Motivated to Complete a VN?
... my advice is: Get something working as soon as possible. This is probably the mantra of most game developers in general. My number one rule is always "put graphics on the screen" and it's my first and foremost endeavor when I'm programming my software - whether it's a word processor o...

Re: A Character's Voice
A few things about both excerpts strike me as potential inhibitors to your character's voice. This is something I noticed about my own writing as well, so I'm going to walk you through what I learned through trial and error. There aren't many of my kind left ... we're just dying out ... our breed ha...

Re: Help making Instrumental music
DSK Overture is phenomenal. In terms of advice, I would say experiment. Place different notes together on the Piano Roll, swap out your plugin and see how it sounds with a different instrument, build your melody from simple loops, and so forth! The learning process itself is a fun way for you to st...

Re: Love interest doing something gamer DON't LIKE.
I am in favor of realistic writing. In fact, there is a genre for this called slice of life. Now this primarily involves writing scenarios that happen in real life, but you can definitely write people who appear in real life as well. There's an audience for this, you can be sure! Like Cakey has alre...

Re: Small tip for VN devs
Don't forget that a prototype should also take art into consideration though. One large aspect of a visual novel is the visual portion, and they are absolutely important when it comes to setting the mood and tone of a scene. Where is the sprite positioned? Is it moving or static? Which facial expres...

Re: Using sprites & blurred background in events illustratio
I would draw the sprites at the larger resolution and scale down for the background characters. This thread may be helpful to you if you want to do it programmatically, but you could also very well scale the images in your image editing software, then keep those smaller versions stored away specific...

Re: What kind of Personalities for a MC?
Bear in mind that this is only my opinion and it will absolutely vary depending upon who you ask! I prefer main characters who have a personality, generally speaking. As long as they're not a blank slate or terrible to everyone around them, I will probably like them. To get more into specifics they ...

Re: Looking for feedback on a character sketch [honest criti
Just an update: Here is another sketch that I wanted to share but didn't want to make a new thread for. I'm trying to find myself my art style so I've made a few changes to the way I draw certain things. If you have a moment, I'd love to hear your opinions! I have still not learned how to color...i...

3. When it comes to older GBA-era games, is there anything in particular you like about them that you think we might be able to bring to the game (or we will try to, at least)? uhhh... I think I'm too young for this whoops (that or I was REALLY living under a rock) Whoa, seriously? Well, we'r...
