Re: Can you switch between NVL and ADV modes?

I don't think so. Text has to be specifically formatted for either NVL or ADV mode. Plus, one needs to take into consideration the window size. A chunk of text that may fit nicely in an NVL window will need to be chopped up to fit in the much smaller ADV window. Otherwise the text will spill out of ...

Re: Obtaining one's artistic talent

This is the single biggest reason I've never tried internet collaboration of any kind (visual novels, RolePlays. etc.). I find that there's not enough of a connection between anonymous strangers to really invest in such a proceeding. I've done collaborative work with friends before, in real life, a...

Obtaining one's artistic talent

I'll admit, I haven't been around LSF for nearly as long as some people. So you'll have to excuse my naiveté in this regard. However, I see a lot of posts on the forum asking for artists. And I'm wondering - how have your experiences been? Have you gotten what you asked for? Are the artists who lurk...

Re: Forum Update

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I seem to be able to see all hidden users that are currently online. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do that before.

Re: Commercial Worthy Visual Novel

If I paid for the game, then it's mine. I don't need to ask anybody's permission to use my own property. I agree absolutely. Unfortunately, content creators and copyright holders are trying desperately to change that dynamic. If they get their way, some day in the future, all of us will only have l...

Re: Stand on your mark (question about directing)

Personally? Why think in terms of, "This is the way VNs are traditionally done"? I'm more apt to think of VNs like film. When you get down to it, a VN can actually come off looking a bit like an animatic for a movie. So why not "film" that way? We are talking about a *Visual* Nov...

Re: Improving the Community

I'm wondering if the rule should be something like "WIP and Art posts should end with a question." The idea should be that if you're going to post here about your own project, it should be done in a way that encourages community: asking people for feedback on your game, or for help with s...

Re: Improving the Community

Close Works in Progress and replace it with a monthly WIP annoucement/progress thread in Game Maker's Corner. So, if someone wanted to make an announcement on LSF that they're making a game at the beginning of a month, they'd have to wait a month before it gets disseminated to the rest of the forum...

Re: You know you've made it when your VN is on Kotaku

Oy. The article focuses on the game's origins at 4chan. In b4 Delta and other members of Four Leaf Studios have a fit. That being said, it's a good article, and it discusses the major points. A lot more people are going to be exposed to a great game because of it. Yeah. The article mostly seems to ...

Re: The iSlate, or iPad...Er...the Apple Tablet thingy...

I guess it'll take a while to come into its own... That's what I'm wondering about. Apple has a nasty habit of conspicuously omitting key functions from devices and then "heroically" add them in with new firmware updates or new hardware revisions. Off-hand, I recall that they did that wit...

Re: The iSlate, or iPad...Er...the Apple Tablet thingy...

However, i can see this thing being EPIC for VNs though! I know! Just imagine how inventive one could get with the h-scenes. Gives new meaning to "pinch and pull"! ...What? Oh c'mon! ;) Everyone's thinking it. I mean, you could use a swipe motion to disrobe the romantic interest. But be c...

Re: The iSlate, or iPad...Er...the Apple Tablet thingy...

When I was watching the Gizmodo updates during the presentation, I really thought of VN's on this thing and how cool it would be. But the terrible limitations of the thing quickly killed that idea. Yup. That's where my mind instantly went to as well. I particularly love the idea of being able to ma...

Re: The iSlate, or iPad...Er...the Apple Tablet thingy...

Eeew. Hmm. Well, I guess as an outsider, I've been dazzled by the prospects of the App Store. I've been viewing it as something akin to getting one's games onto Steam for the PC. Except, in theory, a lot easier. Just pay Apple $99 dollars per year, make your game, and then you've got access to a mar...
