Re: Errant Heart

Holy hell, I remember when I first started coming here that this was being developed (Roughly aroun '11?). Good to see that it's finally finished! Yeah, that's what happens when one only has spare time to devote to a project. Well that, and a minor disaster befalls production. Thankfully, Sake-bent...

Re: Errant Heart

P.S.: Really trying to understand why there's a samba playing on the main menu screen. The main menu is actually tied to the advancement that a player makes in the game. It's supposed to start off bright and happy (hence the samba). As the player gets further into the story, the menu graphics chang...

Re: Errant Heart

It was a long time coming, but it's here. So far, I'm very surprised that it's free given the game's presentation. Well, strictly speaking it's not free, but rather, "pay what you think its worth". Given that we have an unproven history in regards to visual novels, and we have a habbit of...

Re: Persistent variable and music

Thanks. I've tried every variation I could think of, including moving the conditional statement out of the options file and into the script file (immediately after the "label splashscreen:" to no avail. I obviously don't understand what's going on well enough to make any headway. So, I've ...

Persistent variable and music

We have a persistent variable that we've named "mmdarkness". The long and short is, we wanted our main menu screen to slowly change color as a player progressed through the game. And it works. Essentially, at the beginning of every scene, we declare the value of "mmdarkness". The...

Errant Heart - Review Copy

So, it's taken far longer than we wanted, but Errant Heart is, effectively, done. We're still tweaking and polishing a few things and as of right now, only our Kickstarter Backers have access to the full game. However, we will shortly have a "review copy" available for download. As it's be...

Re: Persistent data not so persistent

Well, it's a very bizarre scenario—which I didn't recognize until afterwards. So I'm having trouble identifying what triggered the issue. I think MAYBE it might have something to do with the fact that I was using Notepad++ to perform some editing. While using Notepad++, I opened a completely fresh, ...

Re: Persistent data not so persistent

<sigh> No, I take that back. Putting that same line of code in 6.99.8 does appear to eventually manifest the issue. Interestingly, unlike with 6.13.8, if I use the RenPy console to delete the persistent file, and then comment out the line from options.rpy and restart the game, it starts working agai...

Re: Persistent data not so persistent

Hm.. Can you send me the code that causes the problem? It's possible something is being stuck in persistent that isn't allowed. That would cause a problem, probably when loading persistent, but maybe saving it. Well, after more testing, I believe I can tell you what's going on—and I think, ultimate...

Persistent data not so persistent

So this is a little disconcerting. For no apparent reason, the working directory that I had been using for my project appears to have stopped recording persistent data. I assumed it was just a one-off issue. So, I used the Ren'Py launcher to delete the persistent data, and then relaunch the project....

Re: Movie Sprites

Well that looks particularly awesome. And yes, like AXYPB, I'm curious about the ability to loop. Something I've always disliked whenever people have spites that are "animated" during a transition, or while "talking", is that the sprites typically stop moving during the interim. ...

Emphasize Audio

I've spent my entire life looking for the Emphasize Audio option. Well, okay, perhaps that's a bit hyperbolic. But it's definitely a feature I've wanted for a long time. And, while I can see that we can specify the volume to use, and how long the effect lasts, is there any option to specify how the ...
