Whatsup Gamers I've come back from the abyss to throw up a couple old things!
I'm glad to see an update! I've always liked the sprites in this thread, and the new ones are very cute too. :)

Re: What's Your Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Game?

Here's a summary of my process! I'm primarily a writer and decently capable of doing my own programming, but I need to get art and music from other people. I'm just working on my third solo project right now, so I'm sure some parts of the process might change as I get more experience, but this is wh...

Re: A Bureau of Monsters [B/G x G][B/G x B] [Visual Novel, Turn-based Fighting, Plot Driven] [Max Monsters Jam]

This sounds like a really cool concept! I love time travel and I'm always excited for VNs that have both male and female love interests. For the battles, I guess it would depend on how fun and challenging they are. While I do enjoy some VNs that integrate gameplay, it can be annoying if it's too har...

Re: Options reveal route direction?

I don't think that's something I would want to see on my first playthrough either. I like to go into most VNs without really thinking about route choice, just picking whatever I feel like and seeing what happens. Directly telling me which choice will lead to which route would take away the fun of th...

Re: Creating a Full Text Story

So you just want to make a text adventure, not really a visual novel? If you don't have much programming experience you might be better off using Twine than Ren'Py. It's really simple to learn, and while I haven't interacted with them much myself, there does seem to be a community of people who enjo...

Re: What do you do for your Art? (for non-artists)

You're definitely going to have a hard time finding an artist who's willing to work for a share of the profit, because of course, with a small indie game there's no guarantee that there will be any profit. What I did was start with small-scale, free projects for game jams. When you're doing somethin...

Nice art! I especially like the street background with all the vines and the cute girl sprite. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Feedback about english translation

You've made a good start here! I understand the story and there aren't any major issues that jump out at me. However, there are some minor things that make some sentences seem a little strange. Sometimes it's not anything that's necessarily grammatically incorrect, but you've just worded things in a...

Re: Bara Boarders [BxB, Bara, Bara Jam, Light, Short, WIP]

The art style for this looks so unique and fun! I think I would probably go for Cliff first because I'm not very athletic myself, so I think I'd relate most to the least competent surfer. He also looks really cute! To sort of answer your second question, I have mixed feelings about the phone number ...

Re: making an image map with an overlay

I believe that you can use if/else statements when you're defining your hotspots, so you could have something like this: if found_letter == False: hotspot (971, 574, 63, 54) clicked Jump("agnesletter") That way that hotspot only exists if you haven't found the letter yet. Then when you call the scre...

Re: Do the backgrounds seriously need a crowd of people in it?

I agree with what other people have been saying so far - while having a crowd in the background might be a nice touch, especially if the characters talk about the location being busy or something, it isn't at all necessary. I don't expect visual novels to show me exactly what's happening in the scen...

Re: Looking for critique: Triple Treat (Visual Novel) - [NSFW / 18+] [Fetish] [Kink] [GxG]

I just checked out the tumblr post you linked to and I'm definitely interested now that I see it's "targeted at a lesbian & bisexual female audience"! I'd love to know a little more detail about what you have planned, like what the characters' personalities are like and what roles they would be play...

Re: Adding new game modes after first completion

I wonder if there is some kind of persistent variable which is saved somewhere outside of the 'walls' of the game itself and can be referenced literally anywhere, including in the menu / config etc. There is! Here's the documentation on persistent variables. Just set one of those to true at the end...

Re: Question About "add FileScreenshot"

config.thumbnail_height/width are just config variables. https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/config.html#var-config.thumbnail_height They're probably set somewhere in the files you have (ctrl+f is your friend); just change them. Oh hey, I found them and got it working! Thanks for pointing that out - I g...

Re: Question About "add FileScreenshot"

I took a look at the gui code and I think it used the old "legacy gui" which is no longer recommended as a base(...i think). You could strip the assets and put them into a new project, or try to find how to modify screenshot size though i've taken a look at the code and have no idea where or how. s...
