Error message when trying to add steam achievements

I'm trying to figure out how to add steam achievements to my game. The issue I'm having is in RenPy 6.99.14.3.3347. I found this code when I searched google for information about adding steam achievements to RenPy, and I added it to my game and followed all its instructions. I'd like to export a bui...

Take A Hike! [GxG][Slice of Life][Camping][Commercial]

itch banner.png Available now on itch.io ! Cheerful slacker Olive thought that taking an outdoor ed. class during her final year of high school would be an easy credit, but the year-end camping trip turns out to be a lot more than she bargained for. When an argument with another classmate spurs the...

This looks really fun! I love the aesthetics of the costumes. I'd definitely like to learn more about Madame Scorpion!

What happened to rengoku-teien.com?

Rengoku Teien used to have a ton of great free-to-use music - I think I found it through Alte's Japanese Music Compendium thread, and I've used several tracks from there in my projects. But it seems like the site has been down for quite a while. Going to rengoku-teien.com just shows this now: screen...

Re: Should you cite your sources when putting factual info in your VN?

I think just listing it in the credits of the game would be fine, or maybe putting something on your game's page that says "All animal facts in the game come from this website." I like to credit anything that helps me at all too, so when I used some details about how to play a specific board game th...

Update: The Light at the End of the Ocean is now also available on steam as well as itch.io, so I've updated the main post to include the steam link as well. It has a 10% release discount on there right now if you want to check it out!

Re: How to not self-insert

I don't think it's necessarily wrong to write characters and stories with similarities to yourself and your own life. If you're writing about things you're already really familiar with, you can probably do an especially good job of making them realistic and relatable to people who've been in similar...

Re: My Eyes Life [LGBT][BxB][Supernatural][Creepypasta Inspired]

What a funny concept! I love "lame creepypasta," so I'm looking forward to reading it. I don't know if it really has a good monster that could make a cameo, but one of my favourites is the Russian Sleep Experiment. Maybe you could fit in a reference to that somehow with how Ethan is supposed to stay...

Re: How much narration is too much narration?

Perhaps I'm the outlier and this is bad advice, but I personally almost never have my volume on while playing visual novels so I would be careful about relying on auditory cues to tell people what is going on. I actually wasn't even going to put audio in my game but now you've got me rethinking it ...

Re: How much narration is too much narration?

I think that's a pretty subjective question! It's hard to answer without reading the scene in context, and even then, different people would probably have different opinions. Like fleet said, you definitely can just avoid narrating anything that's already obvious from the visuals if you want to, esp...

This is looking great! I remember submitting some links near the very beginning, and it's improved so much since then. Thanks for putting all this work into it! I'll have to check again and see if I know of anything new that's not in your queue yet.

Re: Take A Hike! [GxG][Slice of Life][Camping][Commercial]

Update! I've been hard at work on this over the last little while, so I've updated the top post to reflect some of the changes I made. The new screenshots show off the new edited backgrounds as well as the GUI! That little campfire in the corner is a button that brings up the hidden quick menu. :) A...

Re: AI Dungeon - an Android app that can help you write your story.

There's a web version of this as well , in which you can copy and paste the text and also export a .txt file of your whole game I believe. I played around with it a while ago and found that the longer it goes on the more it tends to descend into nonsense - it doesn't seem to keep track of very many...

Well, as she says, she later shows how to make your own custom transition, which in her case, was . . .
Oh, I see! Since she started talking about animations instead after the bit I watched, I didn't realize there would be more about transitions later. Thanks for taking the time to explain!
