Re: Editing Name Labels in History Screen
Bumping up this old thread again as I'm getting back into working on this project and still a little unclear on how to handle this problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Re: How do you keep your writing short? >_>
I actually wrote an article about this kind of thing in a free zine a while back that you might find useful! (The one called "Getting Started with Game Jams" - but a lot of it is generally relevant to making your first short VN whether you're participating in a game jam or not.) Something ...

Congrats on the new release, ebi! I'm looking forward to reading this one soon. The art looks great - I love the lighting in that first CG!

Re: Years of developpement and 25 view on this forum
Taking a brief glance at the Completed Adult Games forum, it seems like there are plenty of other recent posts with around 20-30 views, and others that have been around longer in the low 100s, so I imagine your view count is far from out of the ordinary. Maybe the developers with views in the 1000s ...

Re: Editing Name Labels in History Screen
Why don't you use h.who directly? Also note that you can override styles for names in character definition. In your case you could set it to be centered and turn on linebreaking Just replacing "if _last_say_who" in my code with "if h.who" doesn't seem to do anything - it just sh...

Editing Name Labels in History Screen
I have a character in my game who gets referred to as "Mysterious Woman" until the player eventually learns her real name, and that phrase is a bit too long to fit in the name label style the way that I have it set up for all the other characters. So for the name label in the dialogue box,...

Re: Difficulty scaling
I feel like Long Live The Queen, although it is pretty complex and difficult, might be a good example to look to. One thing I really appreciated about that game was that there were often several different ways to get past skill checks. It's been a long time since I played it so I can't remember all ...

Re: A simple doubt
You could also consider putting the text in word bubbles like a comic instead of in one static dialogue box! That would probably be a lot more complicated to program, but it also looks to me like it might fit the aesthetic of the character art. You could check out Where the Sun Always Shines for ide...

Re: How many expressions per character?
I think it really depends on the writing, the characters' personalities, and the roles they play in the story. For instance, a side character might only need a few expressions while a main love interest would need a lot more, and a character who's grumpy all the time probably needs different express...

Re: dating sim recommendations request!
If you're just looking for any visual novels with romance in them (rather than necessarily something with the stat-raising and stuff that I'd really call a "dating sim"), I've got plenty of F/F recommendations! Kindred Spirits on the Roof is a bit of a longer one, but it's a very sweet sto...

This sounds really fun! I love works that take inspiration from Lovecraft, especially when they do so in a way that would make him roll over in his grave! Good luck with the rest of development.
