[SOLVED] Adding Outlines to the TINY gui text elements?

You know the "Back - History - Skip - Auto - Save (etc)" tiny options along the bottom of a default Ren'Py game? Is there a way to give those text elements an outline? I've been searching for a while, and I'm just not sure what style parameter would do it. I know that this will change their color: d...

Re: Queue animated image after a looping animated image?

Alright, I eventually set up a slider to really help test the problem, and I think this is the most notable thing I found: When preferences.gl_framerate = None : lowering the "pause time" really does work gradually - there's just a limit to how fast it can go. (I do not know why). Whereas when the f...

Re: Queue animated image after a looping animated image?

Variable Speed Animation: (Yes, this *Should* solve your variable speed animation question) Rather than using "pause", use "function" toggling a boolean to dictate block/unblock... Right, so the solution I got last time also involved using the "function" keyword to build the animation. It was built...

Re: Queue animated image after a looping animated image?

Hmmm, I'm not sure if that's a feasible solution for what I had in mind... I didn't want to get off-topic, but some context is probably necessary. Truth is, I'm still stumped on a question I asked a week or two ago about changing an animation's speed seamlessly (i.e. not needing to start it over fir...

[SOLVED]Queue animated image after a looping animated image?

This might be a little complicated to describe. So, let's say I have two images that are defined as looping animations: image Animation1: "Frame1.jpg" 0.04 "Frame2.jpg" 0.04 "Frame3.jpg" 0.04 "Frame4.jpg" 0.04 ## etc. repeat image Animation2: "OtherFrame1.jpg" 0.04 "OtherFrame2.jpg" 0.04 "OtherFrame...

[SOLVED]In a screen, show text and bar on same line?

Hello! Simple question, but I really can't seem to find the answer. Here's a piece of simple screen code (basically taken from the Tutorial): screen stat(): frame: xalign 0.5 ypos 50 vbox: text "Health" bar value StaticValue(90, 100) xalign 0.5 xsize 250 This shows the word "Health," and then below ...

Re: Gradually change image animation speed?

You probably want to rotate that fidgetspinner... Heheh, it's more complex than that: a frame-by-frame animation of a person fidgeting (and it uses more than 5 frames, but I was just trying to simplify the problem). Suffice to say, I'm afraid ATL transforms aren't gonna cut it. or just do it inside...

Re: Gradually change image animation speed?

It's occurred to me that I probably should have asked this in the Ren'py questions forum. Sorry about that! I should know better.

Gradually change image animation speed?

So, I have an animated image: image Fidget: "fidget1.jpg" pause anim_speed "fidget2.jpg" pause anim_speed "fidget3.jpg" pause anim_speed "fidget4.jpg" pause anim_speed "fidget5.jpg" pause anim_speed repeat #And then elsewhere, I initialize: $ anim_speed = 0.04 I was hoping that adjusting anim_speed ...

Re: The Language of Love [BxG, Romance, SoL]

The art for this was referred to me when I asked for methods on how people show short characters (like children) in VN's, but I didn't realize it was a project in this community! The art is just excellent, and this looks like a really adorable story! Keep it up!

Re: Summoned [Kinetic][Comedy][BxG][61k Demo][16+] - 1.1.0 Released!

UPDATE: Demo 1.1.1 now released! + 7k words (The entirety of Chapter 12) + 15 (arguably more) CG's, as well as several more backgrounds and sprite emotions + 1 new character, as well as some mild character revamps + Random tweaks overall Not as large an update as the two prior, but let this be a wa...

Re: Creating children or other very short characters?

Part of the issue is that she's only 7, which makes me worried the abstracted height difference might still lead to a higher expected age...but that second example is surprisingly effective for some reason. Making just enough room for shoulders does seem pretty reasonable, and doesn't look weird. Ha...

Creating children or other very short characters?

Many visual novels cut character sprites off around the hips, or a little lower, and mine is no exception. But what happens when a character, like a little kid, isn't any taller than the waistline of an adult? Their entire face would be covered by the text box, and even if it wasn't, they'd look pre...

Re: Writing visual novels that are geared toward adults

A lot of good points here. I'm going to focus a little more on the technical side, since no one has talked about that much. Vocabulary. Adults know a lot more words than kids do, and even if they see one they don't understand, they're better at figuring it out through context or looking it up. I thi...
