I kinda see where you're going with that, and I see that direction is preserved between node movement. That's probably the key to cleaning this up. I'm working on porting The Journeyman Project ( video link if you've never heard of it) to Ren'Py, and I'm trying to decide how I'm going to handle the location definitions. In terms of art, I'm considering more of a minimalist style, not necessarily fully colored or detailed.

I'm open to ideas, what I've written so far was done with manga in mind. If I do go with a visual novel, there's a lot of changes that would be made.
