Re: Template for contract form.

Are you contracting hourly/per word, or is it an existing story you wish to buy off the author?

Re: Code Planning.

If you have multiple programmers, a large-scale project or have lots of features, your first option will help in isolating bugs so they don't affect the rest of the game. If you're working alone, with a smaller-scale project or with only a couple of features, the second option would work better. Hon...

Re: My artist is being stubborn about software. Suggestions?

A little late in the conversation, but I agree with SinaAzad that it's best not to push your artist friend to change programs. Something that I found was unclear when if your friend knows you'll be editing her files. If an extremely frank conversation hasn't happened on this issue, it needed to happ...

Re: Optimizing Art for Ren'py Web?

Since internet speeds around the world and in different areas vary, there's no fool-proof method of removing interlacing or lag related to image loading. I do know that there exists a way for preloading images rather than having images start loading the first time they're called on stage. You'll hav...

Re: Can you please tell me if my sprites face looks wrong!

Hey Cedes! We both agree on that, we like the artstyle and his face is supposed to read thinner. We talked about it the other day and we agreed that his face proportions were just off whcih gave her a sense that it was wrong. She admits that her understanding of anatomy wasn't as good as mine so sh...

Re: Can you please tell me if my sprites face looks wrong!

Did she say what they thought was weird about it? If she can't say, tell her you'll put it on the back burner and work on other things (other characters, scripts, etc.) while she figures it out. If this is a character that has a lot of screen time, I would say to revisit it when all the assets are f...

Re: Sprite Art Pricing

Here's a list of what is generally the most to least expensive sprite modification: Pose Even if it's just a change in a single arm, a character has multiple outfits needs every single clothing item with an arm to be redrawn to fit the new pose. If the head is angled differently or moved on the canv...

Re: How to make the BG and Sprites work well together

Here's a few general tips that can keep things running fairly smoothly when working with a team: Make a layout mock-up. Get everyone on the same page on the general placement of sprites and size of the text box. Set up a drive/folder where everyone can drop off their files. Encourage artists to shar...

Re: Ideas about my Map

In my experience, it's usually the UI/UX that causes players to become overwhelmed rather than graphics. I can't get a good sense how large each continent is supposed to be or how much there is to do. It's like thinking "I'm going to Europe" vs. "I'm going to walk 16 miles a day on the Camino de San...

Re: Drawing new linear and colors over 3D model in Roomstyler (free online interior design service)?

I checked out RoomStyler, and it looks like you have the tools to make an interior bg that won't be too obviously generated by this specific site. 1-2 point perspective backgrounds are so prevalent that whoever has time to prove you traced it is probably a sign of a stalker with an unusually idle ha...

Re: Looking for advice

For a fast sketch, it's very clean and wouldn't look out of place as final lineart. Because your aesthetics look good as far as I can tell, my advice is to focus on consistency. When you are at the inking and rendering stage, I encourage you to work on 2-4 characters at once. This way you can 1) avo...

Re: Pls Help with Drawing Tablet

Hopefully this response finds you in time, but if not, then hopefully it helps someone else ^^; If you have space for it, I suggest the Huion H950P. The other tablets you've listed have extremely small working areas and aren't the best for art programs. Personally, working with a small tablet feels ...

Re: Reference preferences

I've found Google Docs to work pretty well, since I prefer having all my information in one place.

The ability to add comments/questions on the sides of the document is also useful.

Re: Pain points of current VN engines? What makes an engine attractive to artists?

I don't think artists are motivated to work with someone based on the engine they use.

(Though I have refused to work with a client when they asked me to work in GIMP.)
