Re: Potential tech which could generate 2d illustration from 3d assets

Learning to use a 3d program in order to create those many poses and expressions still either takes time or requires hiring an artist, and using simple 3d assets for characters risks them looking too generic and losing the appeal factor necessary to make the game stand out. Especially if everyone's ...

Re: It is needed to read some VNs before creating your own one?

It's not required, but if you have trouble focusing on reading enough to play a VN, it's unlikely that you'll be able to focus on writing enough to complete and polish your own. It's a lot of work!

Re: Seems like people don't really need Ren'Py programmers

People do need programmers, but MORE people need artists. For folks that are just trying to make a simple visual novel, or maybe even one without choices, they can get by all right without adding any fancy features... but the need for art is a lot more obvious. So more people are looking for artists...

Re: Share your sales/downloads stats!

Most people posting in this thread are not listing 'paid' games, they are listing games that take donations. Putting them on Steam would be counterproductive, as they would have to pay a fee to be listed and there is no easy mechanism for people to make donations if they want to. As for those of us ...

Re: where on the interent would fanworks of indie VNs congregate?

I do know that the Hanako Games likes to feature fanfic and fanart of their games, and sometimes contests. I will have to check that out, definitely. I can imagine someone adding the little death to Elodie's long list of possible deaths! I occasionally post links to people's fanart/fanfic but I wou...

Re: Eldritch Academy [GxG Romance/Horror][Commercial]

From my experience in hanging out with the yuri crowd, people will not get too upset about side-character relationships if they do not overwhelm the story and do not feature sexy content. I don't think anyone expects all yuri games to take place in a World Of Gay where nobody is heterosexual EVER. I...

Re: Battle Systems in VNs?

I think there's a place for them, but there are stories where it's unnecessary. I'm working on a battle system myself, but it's for one specific project and for others it just doesn't need to be there. Imagine having a turn-based battle system in any VN you come across. It comes off as a joke. Ther...

Re: LGBT visual novels- How do you like your endings?

I'm going to try to avoid spoilers, but let me talk for a second about Nurse Love Addiction. The romance routes have good and bad endings. The bad endings do not necessarily mean that you "lose" the girl. Sometimes, they mean that you got together... in the worst way possible. There are some amazing...

The game is on sale for 25% off on Steam this week.

And there is now a free nude patch available, for people who are into that sort of thing. More information over in the adult games thread: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=45732

I know, lame name" https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=44832#p459712 Thanks to a breakthrough provided by Renpytom, I was finally able to get out of a technical deadl...

Re: Do you let your artists publish your commissioned art?

I usually put in the contracts the right to display a certain percentage of art, with requests that they avoid certain things that are spoilery. I mean, why wouldn't I want you to post a few pictures? It will probably advertise my game anyway! I just don't want them to dump the entire image set or s...

Re: Quick Time Events in Visual Novels

I wouldn't entirely count all timed menus as quick time events, but I have enjoyed some games that allow for 'choosing nothing' at a menu point for a long period of time to count as 'the character doesn't say anything' and the game reacts to that. Especially when the amount of time given for a respo...
