Re: Doing a "Oregon Trail" type of game in Ren'Py?

It's one of many game ideas I've often wanted to work on and never yet gotten around to, so I wish you luck with it. :)

Re: Protagonist/Route Preferences?

Different people will have different preferences; make the story you want to make!

I could tell you what I personally prefer but it might not be the same as the next poster, and for many of us, it really all depends on the details of how you pull it off.

Re: Nijowari: Where Angels Fall [GxG][PLOT DRIVEN][SCI-FI][SLICE OF LIFE][MATURE CONTENT] [+18]

Yeah, the spoiler thing is always complicated because it pains us as writers to ruin our own reveals. :) But especially when talking about fundraising it's often important to give more away in order to spark people's interest. It doesn't have to be too clear, though. Hints and vague out-of-context t...

Re: Nijowari: Where Angels Fall [GxG][PLOT DRIVEN][SCI-FI][SLICE OF LIFE][MATURE CONTENT] [+18]

You call it GxG up top but most of your intro is talking about male characters, their backgrounds, their hopes and feelings. Is this actually a male protagonist or BxG game? You call it 'plot-driven' and 'slice of life' at the same time. These are, as far as I know, basically opposites? Slice-of-lif...

Re: As We Know It [GxB][GxG][post-apocalyptic|romance|drama][Otome|Yuri|Visual novel]

Oh hey, I remember this! Jude was my favourite in the demo. Great work; I'm happy to see it's out now~ Just a small side note on the Steam page: it'd be good to tag it as a 'visual novel' so it can reach out to its niche audience :) I hope it goes well!! I will try to tag it as that! But sometimes ...

Re: Eastbound Stars: The Drowning Halls [RPG] [FIRST PERSON POINT AND CLICK] [FANTASY]

If you want to inspire interest, it probably helps to give more details and description. What kind of gameplay are you planning to have? You said rpg/adventure but that can mean many different things. Can you describe an example of the kinds of things the player will do? What about the characters? T...

Re: Magical Diary: Wolf Hall [Sim/RPG] [BxG/B] - Kickstarter Successful!

Lots of development updates since but as mentioned they've generally been posted to the kickstarter , the itch devlog , or to my forums . However I thought I'd come back in to show signs of how the character creator is coming along: bodytype.jpg (Wings and elf ears available as add-ons later in the ...

Re: Rockfish Island [VN] [GxB] [GxG] [Survival| Adventure | Modern] [Resource Gathering]

You mentioned the character starts with a boyfriend - is he one of the characters? Is he killed or lost in the crash? (I'm *guessing* that it's more likely he's missing because dead would be pretty depressing) I know a lot of otome fans may have trouble with what they see as a 'cheating' plotline, i...

Re: Should there be a Wiki or Database for English Visual Novels Only?

VNDB already has plenty of filter options - and there are far more languages possible than just Japanese and English. Just for starters, I commonly encounter Chinese, Korean, Russian, French, and Spanish games in there - those are just the ones I see most often, there are plenty of other possibiliti...

Re: Self-publish or not?

Do you need cash upfront to finish your game? Then you might benefit from a publishing arrangement, if you can find someone who is interested enough in your game to put some money down to help you finish it. Otherwise, in most cases, signing up with a 'publisher' these days just means that you give ...

Re: "A Simple Gesture" - Studio Yuraki - DDLC: Artist [Slice of Life]

Honestly my first impression is: why? Why would you apparently invest tens of thousands into a 'free' game? Is there some weird trick behind it where it's "free to play" but you can only play a few minutes at a time unless you pay for tickets? Is it intended as a short freebie to increase interest f...

Re: As Above/So Below [Sci-Fi][Romance][Demo]

You may get more interest if you specify the natures of the protagonist and the romances - a lot of people scan through the topic list looking for tags that match their tastes.

Female protagonist? Monster sex?

Re: Using Ren'Py for a text adventure/IF

If you want a true text adventure (walk around, interact with objects) there are a lot of free cross-platform tools designed just for that - you'd be better off working with them as many, many years of effort has already gone into making things work sensibly with complicated nouns and verbs. (Look u...

Re: Magical Diary: Wolf Hall [Sim/RPG] [BxG/B] - Kickstarter Successful!

For anyone who missed the kickstarter or couldn't pledge because they don't take paypal, it's now possible to back the game on itch.io This will get you access to the game in development, new updates as they're released, and (eventually) a Steam key when it's all done if you want. General developmen...
