Re: PR nightmare: When indie devs are attacked
I intensely dislike the "don't feed the trolls" mantra. Not that everyone can or should fight back against the pressures that trolls bring to the table, but "don't feed the trolls" is essentially conceding that we can not and never will be able to make online interactions better ...

Re: VN Writing Circles. Interested?
I'll be proactive. Let me just find when you meet for the big one... how do I join En Dash and get into the forums? Do you want me to fill out the questionnaire? My main interest in the writing group is to have "writing time" where people support eachother to write by writing. To me, that...

Re: Are you a Weeaboo?
The real problem with Weabooism (yeah, that's a word now) is that it completely disregards the reality and nuance of Japanese culture. When the portrayals of Japanese schools in anime are viewed as reality, when people assume all Japanese people love games and anime, when these ignorant (in a non-pe...

Looking for: Pixel Artist
Are there any pixel artists floating around here? I'm looking to add some pixel animations to a project I'm working on, and I was wondering if anyone wanted to collaborate with me. I'm willing to pay for the right artist, but funds aren't exactly gushing forth at the moment. If you'd like some detai...

Re: Writing Tip: Writing HORROR
Someone briefly mentioned this, but one thing that hasn't been addressed is tension. Tension is absolutely needed for horror, but I think that it's equally important that tension is undermined. For example, the locker scene in Silent Hill is an incredibly scary moment because the tension is complete...

Re: Robinwood Studios is recruiting
Hello!
Is the formal application process? I'm interested in writing and/or editing position. I have various fiction and non-fiction samples I can submit, and am an editor for a gaming website. (Whose name I won't post here.)
Hope to hear from you!

Re: the end of open platforms?
I don't follow, why don't we just not upgrade to Windows 8 if they reduce the number of things the computer can do? One of the biggest things is that as tech gets better and better older OS's won't be able to handle the things programmers want to do with the hardware. There's no way Windows 98 woul...

Re: the end of open platforms?
See, I was starting to like Apple. And then this. My problem with Apple has always been their insane rights management, and this does nothing to make me want to support them. I jail broke my iPhone, not to steal apps, but just to not have to deal with Apple rights management all the time. It makes t...

Re: Research: Attitude towards drugs?
I've been given to understand that many of the illegal drugs are less harmful and less addictive than certain drugs which are legal but have very powerful lobbying organisations behind them. The dangers, of course, vary wildly by drug, and MANY substances can be dangerous if abused. It's funny you ...

Re: Worst anime you have ever watched?
Spiral.
Not so much because the show itself was bad (it was more mediocre than anything) but because of the theme song. Auuuuuuuuuuugh. Hearing it is like being punched in the face with an active taser.

Well I really like those sprites, but I have too much on my plate right now. I'd like to work with you in the future though.

Re: Visual Novels For Android
It will be free. My current plans - always subject to change - are that any pay component for Ren'Py would target end-users, rather than developers. (For example, a Ren'Py shop, or charging for excess save-synchronization space.) Out of curiosity, would such a Ren'Py shop be able to support DLC, if...

Re: What is your religion?
Atheist, but in the way that I don't really care what your beliefs are as long as you afford me the same favor. (And, you know, assuming your beliefs don't involve eating babies or some such.)
