Re: how to make imagebuttons work?
Yeah, it seems sometimes you can't figure it out even when it's in front of you the whole time... I even had a working example inside my game from 1 year ago in front of me and couldn't figure out how and why a button got the selected state... but "For example, if your button uses SetVariable action...

Yes, there are many ways to search, many ways to spend time just to search for one information that could have been provided in just a few words or even lines and in so many cases. Ren'Py is full of it and everyone who learned Ren'Py is aware of this crap so what are we talking about? How many devel...

Re: define, default, $ xxx =
I read the documentation and more than once, but why would I find "Statement Equivalents" not on the page that was named so but on a page named "Python Statements" that I would consider having a Reference of Python Statements valid inside of Ren'py eludes my very simple mind. Not to forget that vari...

[SOLVED]ordered dict???
Hiya, I lately noticed, that dict-variables inside of Ren'Py aren't ordered as they are in Python at least, they don't seem to work as they should. I've written a little game editor in Python (Python 3.10) that is using json files to exchange data between the editor and the Ren'Py game. To read the ...

Re: Align Text Within Frame In Screen
Hmm... if you want two independent lines of text you don't need a vbox at all, you can position text where ever you want. xpos and ypos is the pixel coordinate and xalign and yalign the orientation. If you create a box at x=100, y=100, width=50, height=50 and xalign=1.0, yalign=1.0, then the box wil...

Re: Align Text Within Frame In Screen
Oh, I see. Sorry I had no idea from which part of your screen you were talking. Yes in that case you are right. Like frame and vbox, the text is kinda creating it's own box which you then position with the position style properties. The only thing to add is, that you don't need to use transform to a...

Re: Current Location Label
Not sure what he tried to achieve with the array and the following code. Because the moment when you write $ location = "livingroom" the list of ["livingroom, "bathroom", "Kitchen"] gets overwritten with a simple string. And to position a single text line would look like: screen location(): text "[l...

Re: Text causes other screen elements to shift/displace when hovered
The idea behind boxes, vbox and hbox is that the arranging of displayables. And if you make one element bigger then they are shifting/moving everything out of the way to correctly display them. You can of course always manage the position of those elements on your own. You don't need a vbox or hbox ...
