Do the backgrounds seriously need a crowd of people in it?
Hello! I was just wondering about the seriousness of a realistic sense in background arts for Visual Novel. My colleague used to complain about the background art for school, classroom, swimming pool, amusement park (or just park), the beach etc. for being unusable without showing any crowds of peop...

Re: The correct perspective and other factos for bg.
https://i.imgur.com/5ePQqzQ.jpg This is the first sketch of the picture I got. I like this picture the most for some reason, but my supervisor told me it is wrong. Is the merry-go-round in this picture really too far and also too small compared to the overall space and buildings, especially to the ...

Re: The correct perspective and other factos for bg.
Thank you for your suggestion! My supervisor told me that the merry-go-round in the third pic looks too small and thin compare to the wide space around it. So, he advise me the first pic. But, I don't want to rely on only one person and one opinion about this bg issue. Please clarify me if his sugg...

Re: The correct perspective and other factos for bg.
Overall, pretty good. The third link feels the best composition-wise. Your horizon line (eye line) is a little low, and you are going to run into problems if you hang characters off the horizon line as it is. Visual novels have special considerations for placing the horizon line and sprites to give...

Or maybe neither? There will be two sprites showing on the left and rig...

I think it's Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney if it counts. If not, then Narcissu.

Re: What got you into making visual novels?
I decided to make VN (dating sim) because I think the story I wrote suit this genre best. Also, I am not so good at (also not fond of) drawing maps and sprites for RPG or the likes. And finding helps is really difficult for me, but it may be possible in the future if I managed to make a name for mys...

Re: The youngest romancing character for VN/dating sim
I've been thinking about this sort of question as well, as I'm making a dating sim with high-school aged characters (all the love interests and the main character are about age 17.) The intent is to make the game accessible to LGBT+ teens age 13+, who don't really have much content out there made f...

Re: The youngest romancing character for VN/dating sim
Thank you for your suggestion! Most examples come from what I have seen in Japanese anime and manga. Sorry if it bothers you! I need to confirm if those examples can cause some trouble if being added or not. Oh, don't misunderstand. It doesn't personally bother me . My opinion is that anything like...

Re: The youngest romancing character for VN/dating sim
I think you open a can of worms the moment you move past anything like hugging or kissing with a character like that. Especially once you get into sexual touching. It gets worse if the main character is 18 or older themselves. It's more acceptable if both characters are the same age. 'Accidentally ...

The youngest romancing character for VN/dating sim
Hello! I was just curious what the youngest age character you have encountered in VN or dating sim is (regardless of the gender). My game has a 15-year-old girl as one of the romance option. While it is common to date a girl that age in real life, I'm not sure if she's too young for dating sim game ...

Re: How do you split profit in % of total sale for each role?
For me, splitting the profit in the percentage and pay them continuously can be a lot of hassle. There is another way I can think of, which is to pay them normally after you get some cash from the game you sold. You may also pay some pledge to show that you can be trusted. If they cannot wait foreve...

The last game I finished was Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force (the same company who developed Neptunia). Currently playing Pokemon Ultra Sun, though.

Re: Changing Art Styles in a Sequel
IMO I would expect the same art style for the sequel. Especially if it's the same game with a continuation of the story or chronologically related to the previous game. The drastic change in art style usually occur with a remake or sometimes a spin-off and a spiritual successor, though.
