Re: Crystal the Witch [Free, Short][Comedy, Cute]

I played and honestly? This is one of the cutest things I've seen in a while. I really loved the cat. (I talk to my dog like this, so it feels so real!)

Also the art and animations are phenomenal. They work so well with the game! Kudos! I can't wait to see more by you!!!!

Re: for expierenced NV developers/creators, what would you say to a first time VN creator?

I'd echo the "start small" advice and use as many creative commons or public domain assets as you can. Get a sense as to how long this will take (and how much it'll likely cost) to do even a small project before embarking on something huge. You may find that you *love* creating games and, after a sm...

Re: Love Interest Mentioning Past Relationships

I agree with the above posters that it seems kind of weird for a love interest to have never had any kinds of love interests in the past. So bringing them up definitely doesn't bother me. With that said, like everything, it depends on execution. If the character feels the need to bring up, say, her ...

Oooh, this is a nice simple example which I may end up using if I ever work on a point and click game. :) Thanks for posting!

Re: How to decide your prices?

For example, where I live in the USA the minimum wage is about $8 an hour. Something else to keep in mind is that if you were making, say, $8/hr at a coffee shop (in the US, although I suspect this example holds true to some extent for a number of other countries), your employer would also be payin...

Re: Eidolon [Dating Sim] [Free to Play]

I revised the description slightly to (hopefully) better reflect the game. If anyone who has played has any thoughts, let me know!

Re: Music Importance

Music isn't necessary , clearly. You can have a game without music. (Heck, you can have a game without pictures. I remember playing a lot of text based games back in the 80s, some of which were pretty good!) But music does add ambiance, can set the tone, and otherwise elevates the game. (Just like, ...

Re: Friendship story writing

I think friendship is a great theme. :) For me at least, though ,the hard parts of writing a romance are less the "And then they declare their mutual love for each other!" and more, "How do I make two characters click in a way that feels natural." (Which you'd have to do in a friendship story if you...

Re: Normal or Fishy VN Company?

Since I asked about rates, it's been crickets. I followed up three times. Never got a response. I think I'll give this company a pass for now. I think that's wise as the only reasons I can see for the crickets are either that they've already found someone else or, more likely, they're like "Payment...

Re: Normal or Fishy VN Company?

Thanks for the perspective, Mutive. I understand from the company's point-of-view that they want to see if I can follow their form and use their direction. My experience is not in VNs, so they want to see what I can do. I get that. They're looking for 500-word stretches from 4 different scenes of a...

Re: Normal or Fishy VN Company?

I don't work in the industry, so take my words with the appropriate salting. :) With that said, typically it's seen as acceptable to ask for *some* work to be done prior to hiring, with the knowledge that it shouldn't be too arduous for the applicant and can't be used by the company as anything othe...

Re: writing in dating sims

mmmh well, when i comes more to actions. for example, gameplay resume itself to player chooses an activity for the evening -> short description of said action, usually a stat building one (e.g "i went to work and earned 120$!") or an interaction with a love interest (e.g they have a conversation an...

Re: Help with bust/waist/hip measurement

I'd be cautious of using anime references, too. They're pretty crazy! Height also matters a LOT, too. What's normal for someone who's 5'0" is very slender on someone who's say, 5'11". (This is part of why models tend to be tall. They look more slender at the same measurements as someone short.) A fa...

Re: Eidolon [Dating Sim] [Free to Play]

Oh, wow, so I just finished and I was not expecting that! It's really good and at times I forgot I was playing a game. And like...all those things were part of the game, right? Right? But good job. I had fun playing it and it was worth sticking around for a second 'playthrough'. Thanks! I'm...
