Re: Eidolon Walkthrough

Adrianna Achievements: You're most likely to find Adrianna in the cafeteria, although she's generally easy to find anywhere. She tends to like you being flirty and romantic. But honestly, it's hard not to get Adrianna to like you as she's looking for love. If you want a romance, she's the only one ...

Re: Eidolon Walkthrough

Easter Egg Path: There's an Easter egg character hidden in Eidolon. She shows up very rarely, so any time you see her, click on her. Once these are completed, you get the Easter Egg achievement. General Notes: To get all achievements as quickly as possible, try to get at least 4 romance-able charac...

Re: Gender and personality of the protagonist bias

To me, a lot depends on what the game is trying to do. If the goal is to explore the world myself (e.g. as the protagonist, using a first person POV), I probably want a fairly blank slate protagonist without a super distinct voice. If the goal is more to tell a story about a protagonist, I prefer mo...

Re: Unique Hover Options for Hotspots

Yay you did it on your own lol. Proud of you! :) Hah hah, yes! (I usually figure things out literally an hour after posting. Because ~*reasons*~.) I was gonna recommend trying hovered imagebuttons on top of the hotspots, but your solution nicely cuts out the middleman. Thanks! I was pretty pleased ...

Re: Unique Hover Options for Hotspots

So, I figured it out! First I created a screen for the "unique hover"... screen PopUp: add "images/PopUp.png" pos (150, 75) Then I added this line: hotspot (70, 80, 120, 1190) clicked Jump ("placetogoto") hovered ShowTransient("PopUp", img="images/PopUp.png") unhovered Hide("PopUp") So that was easi...

Re: Enrich a dialogue only experience

Yes, using a random should make it pretty easy to make dialogues change without any input on the player's part. (If I'm understanding correctly?) You could easily use this to give, say, one of three choices to a player any time you felt so inclined. (It might not be especially satisfying to do this ...

Unique Hover Options for Hotspots

Hi all awesome coders (who will hopefully be kind and help me!) Anyway, I'm fooling around with programming a point and click Renpy game. I've been able to get the hotspots going, but was hoping to have a unique hotspot for each hover. (e.g. if my mouse is on hotspot 1, I'd like to be able to pop up...

Re: Enrich a dialogue only experience

I may be missing your question (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!), but a LOT of VNs are, more or less, click to talk to someone. (I'd argue that this is more or less what all of them are.) Dating sims, in particular, are "click to talk to someone" games in general. (Although there may be plot a...

Re: How much of the game should be in the demo?

The goal of a demo is to get a player to buy the full game, right? So I'd argue that a demo should be long enough that a player can get a sense of the game + why they'd want to play it. This means it can be as long or as short as it takes to "sell" the player. (With that said, it's rare that I'll "t...

Re: I want to create a AI

I have code for all of this created either in my game or sandbox. The time/date functions in Renpy will provide the date function pretty easily. You can look into the user documentation for that. I believe it also contains the PC username + autosave functions. (I'm assuming you want to autosave at c...

Re: Game with Typed In Conversation

Here is my example.. i hope it helps you. :) Oooh, thanks! That is helpful! Although I was considering playing around with some Python packages for chatbots (https://pypi.org/project/chatbotAI/ or https://pypi.org/project/ChatterBot/) I haven't really done anything with either of them so far, so it...

Re: Game with Typed In Conversation

Have you played the game 9:05 yet? It's an awesome parser IF game that you should check out. Takes about 10 minutes to play through, with some really interesting twists and turns! You have to play more than once to get the full experience. Here's the link: http://adamcadre.ac/if/905.html Hopefully ...

Re: Game with Typed In Conversation

That kind of game are fun but the illusion is quickly broken if a lot of sentences are not understood by the character. Oh, I agree completely. It's one thing if once in a while the poor chat bot seems broken (or if the player truly is typing in nonsense), but if the syntax is constantly hard for t...
