Looking for Artists and Maybe Musician for FTP Fantasy Satire - [Partially Filled]
Edit: A character artist has been found. If this still interests you, happy to chat in case it makes sense to do something, something, something, but I'm probably good to go. Thanks! I started a project with an artist (background and character) who unfortunately has vanished. So game is basically co...

Re: WIP/DEMO/INTRO ... next steps?
I definitely recommend beta testers. Getting feedback prior to release is really important! If possible, I think it's especially helpful to have someone play as you watch. See how long it takes them to play. See if there are things they struggle with. See if there are parts they're lingering on, lau...

Re: Screen not Closing
I got it to work by using "hide canvas", etc. vs. "hide screen canvas", etc.
Not quite sure why that worked, but at least can move forward!

Screen not Closing [Solved]
I'm programming a game in which, for a period of time a screen is pulled up and the player clicks on hot spots. There's an exit condition so that once the hot spots are clicked, the player jumps to a label that supposedly hides the screens + progresses on with the game. So something like this... lab...

Re: Tips for when hiring a artist for CGs?
A few thoughts... 1. Have a contract. Make sure that it spells out things like what you're requesting (X number of CGs), revisions (how many do you get before the artist is free to say, "no, you're being crazy, stop it"), timing (when is art due? When are character designs due?), payment, ...

Re: Trying to figure out how to animate a thing...
Thank you so much! I think that'll do the trick. (I need to fiddle around a bit more with the coordinates, etc, but I think I can make it work! Much appreciated!

Trying to figure out how to animate a thing...[Solved]
I'm feeling like an idiot, as this seems like it should be an easy thing to do... My goal is to have a player click on a map, at which point there's an animation of the sprite moving from the starting location to the clicked on location. I'd like to be able to set the coordinates for the sprite as s...

Re: Looking to start a Visual Novel department, where to begin...
Congrats on your funding! My first question would be what do you mean by "recruit"? 150k isn't a huge amount if you're looking to hire full time staff. (Although this is somewhat dependent upon *where* you want to hire the staff. But where I live, 150k would hire maybe 1 full time programm...

Re: Integration of Story and RPG-Like Gameplay
Would you find an utterly mediocre battle system in an otherwise mechanically otome-like game to be a point of interest that breaks up information-heavy areas, or an immersion-breaking, plot-blocking, pain? I think it depends on how mediocre the battle system is. If the battle sections are reasonab...

Re: Games You Want to Play
Most of the cast in Zero Escape games are adults, with fleshed out backstories, actual jobs and knowledge that contributes to solve the puzzles and problems they face. I'm definitely going to have to check them out then. :) That sounds really interesting. (And more fun than yet another teenager. No...

Re: Games You Want to Play
If you liked Squid Game there are quite a few "death game" VNs aside from Danganropa, though most generally still have characters in the teen to young adult range. I may check some of them out, thanks for the suggestions! (Although I really do want games with adult protagonists. As someon...

Games You Want to Play
I'm curious as to what games other people might want to play. e.g. what game, if you saw it advertised, would you purchase on the spot if someone was just awesome enough to create it? I'll throw out one... Danganropa ...but with adult characters. (Or I suppose Squid Game the Murder Mystery ) 16 (or ...

Re: Is my protagonist too good to be true?
It's not so much that I'm hoping to divine what actually motivated him, but rather find what motivation could have created the insightful and fastidious judge we see in the historical record. I inherently think this could be interesting (and I'm not sure he needs to be broken down or have a traumat...

Re: Is my protagonist too good to be true?
The lives the historical personages are compelling, but the judge in question lacks a fatal flaw and never seems to be pushed beyond his breaking point. He appears to have begun his career in public service already self-actualized, based on how eloquently he speaks of the law and how justly he rule...

Re: How (Not) To Make Money As a Solo Dev
My experience is also kinda skewed because my only Steam release so far is more or less a re-release of a previously available game. I'm kinda curious to see if a simultaneous itch/Steam release would synergize to boost traffic overall, or if Steam would just eat some of the itch.io sales. Based on...
