Re: How to pause and then play a certain track at that point?

You know, that's a very good point. I could just skip to the main part of the song... As for the link, the person's example doesn't work as stated. When I try to unpause with $ fading_pause(), I just get an error. "TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for *: 'NoneType' and 'int'" I even tried with...

Re: How to pause and then play a certain track at that point?

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work, even after renaming my variable "red".

How to pause and then play a certain track at that point?

Say I have a particularly long song with a long opening. Suddenly, a mysterious person pops up and another track plays. Then, you find out that person was really your close friend, so the first song can continue playing. I don't want to start the first song all over again, so how can I play it back ...

How to capitalize a character name tag?

This is probably really obvious, but I'm trying to capitalize a character name in the text. m "Name, what're you doing? NAME!" Unfortunately, using [n!u] doesn't work unless n is a variable. I know I could define n as a variable instead of just a character from the beginning but I was wondering if t...

Re: The bottom of my text keeps getting cut off.

For some reason, the problem seems to have been fixed, although I'm not sure why. Maybe it happened when I added an outline to the text or something... If it shows up again, though, line_spacing should help! :D The only issue is, I've tried to use it, and so far I have: style test: line_spacing 100 ...

The bottom of my text keeps getting cut off.

I have the exact same problem as this guy: https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11972 The bottom of my font is cut off, until the entire text loads, in which case it corrects itself so longer letters like j and p show entirely. I'm using Arial, which is a pretty common font so I'm n...

Re: A question about writing a long game...

Thanks a lot for your post! It answered all of my questions. I'll browse through the other script files before continuing my VN.

A question about writing a long game...

I'm making a very large game in Ren'Py, so I have a few questions about making it as efficiently as possible: Should I typically be writing in many different script files? I only have the main one and I'm considering jumping to another after every major decision. If so, how do I make another one? Ho...

Re: How do I show a name in an input prompt?

Oh, nevermind. I changed the color to who_color for my character, but I guess I had to completely reset for it to work (probably necessary for defines). It works now, thanks! Edit: Double nevermind, the who_color had nothing to do with the box transparency. I'm trying to change the box transparency ...

Re: How do I show a name in an input prompt?

Cool idea, but it ends up coming up with two text boxes on my end. I guess I could do without it... Or find a way to make the box transparent (which I'm pretty sure is possible).

Re: How do I show a name in an input prompt?

Sorry, but I don't think that's it. I've tried: $ tempName = renpy.input([m] "If I had a nickname, it would be:") # Doesn't compile. $ tempName = renpy.input("[m]" "If I had a nickname, it would be:") # Puts the name next to the prompt, not as a character name. $ tempName = renpy.input("[m] If I had...

How do I show a name in an input prompt?

For instance, I'd like to write:

Code: Select all

$ tempName = renpy.input(m "If I had a nickname, it would be:")
Unfortunately, even though m is defined, it won't let me output the character's name with the prompt. Is there a way around this?
