Re: How did you get into anime?

I believe my introduction to anime came with Toonami during the late 90s and early 2000s, though I primarily heard about it through the internet. My first two anime movies that I remember were Akira and Ghost in the Shell, two quite violent cyberpunk flicks. I also ended up catching a show on cable ...

Re: recommended manga(formerly currently reading manga)

My current favorites manga-wise are: Hellsing - One of my favorite manga. Its art style is pretty crappy in the beginning, but picks up in a big way later, and it shifts from your standard vampire-hunting series to an out-and-out war epic once the major bad guys get introduced. Berserk - One of the ...

The Hellsing anime sucked. Animation was half-assed and I somehow preferred the English dub, which almost never happens.
The first anime sucks bad, yes. If you want to get into Hellsing, I highly recommend the Ultimate series, which is a lot more faithful to the manga.

Re: How do I change the texbox position?

ADV textboxes are usually placed at the bottom so as to see the visuals better.

So I'm kinda curious as to why someone would want to put it in the middle of the screen.

How do I center page text in NVL format?

So I've been watching some playthroughs of Fate/Stay Night and Higurashi, both VNs that use NVL format, and I've noticed this thing that they like to do. In situations where there isn't enough text to fill the entire screen on a page, sometimes they'll center the text that does get used on the page ...

Re: Diamonds and Devils[Supernatural,Horror,Mystery]

Normally when I hear the word "ghoul" in relation to a vampire, it's either a zombie-style undead created by a vampire (a la Hellsing) or a Renfield-style servitor of a vampire who possesses some of the vampire's power through drinking his/her blood (a la the Vampire RPGs). That said, you've got a g...

Re: Is the Forum Search laggy / borken for everyone?

There was maintenance done recently, during which I couldn't get on the forums at all due to a 502 error (Bad Gateway).

I'm hoping that things get sorted out, and soon.

Re: Battle Systems in VNs?

If you're planning to have battles in your VN, having a battle system makes a good amount of sense, though not every action-focused VN needs one (the Nasuverse games being the prime example).

Search has been lagging and timing out on me too. So Remix is not alone.

I say go for it! That kind of style definitely works for what you're doing.

Re: Why are you making your current visual novel?

The VN I'm currently working on is basically my first VN period, and I'm doing it primarily to get used to using Ren'Py and creating VNs in general. Though I plan on using NVL format for the majority of my VN stuff (since I am more of a writer than an artist), I'm having quite a bit of fun with ADV ...

Re: Is it possible to change the space between paragraphs in NVL mode?

Hi there! As someone just getting into Ren.Py and NVL myself, I was having a few problems with just what you're talking about. The way that Ren.Py's NVL format is set up normally, each paragraph in NVL (that is, each major section of text that you put in quotes) functions more or less like an ADV te...

I sometimes have to report spam on forums I frequent, and I just reported my first one here today. I didn't think I'd have to do it this early, but there it is.

Name: Dravencour Location: USA Website: Not yet... So I've decided to try this visual novel thing out. I've tried out TyranoBuilder and found it quite user-friendly and am currently messing around with Ren'Py, whose coding-oriented structure is quite reminiscent of ACS scripting from GZDOOM (which I...
