Re: Critique on art works please
Try sketching out the main forms of your characters with circles, ovals, cylinders, and boxes before you add details. It looks like you are starting with drawing the head, and just adding on to the drawing as you go (which is common for people when they start out). If you learn to build the form wit...

Looking really good, YonYonYon. Though the coloring of the neck looks a little dark compared to the rest of the body.

Re: Happy to hear your comments for my work
You should also define where your lightsource is coming from, and shade accordingly. So if your light was above the character and to the screen right, then her screen left side would be in shadow. Think about your character as being built from 3D volumes (cylinders, spheres, etc) and let that guide ...

Sketching for the first time in ages. Practicing with myPaint on Linux, with a Wacom Bamboo tablet and my netbook. http://mduffor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/animFace_002_sm.jpg I still need to practice/try inking and coloring. And eventually I'll need to draw a full character and turn it into a ...

Re: Points System Failure
As others have mentioned, it is an indentation problem. Basically in Python, if a line ends in a colon [:] then the lines following it need to be indented. By convention, indentation is four spaces for python. Also for everyone's sanity, it is best to use spaces instead of tab characters. Cheers, Mi...

Re: An anime-style Linux Distro...
I'm not sure what you would classify as an "anime-style" distro, since anime has a wide range of styles itself. Perhaps you could give some examples? You may want to look into the anime desktop mascots that I've seen on some Japanese/Chinese/Korean desktops. They are on-screen avatars, muc...

Re: 2d anime character generator
Another issue to consider is any CG/cutscene graphics you want to create that involve the main [customizeable] character. If you are only using characters/sprites over backgrounds, then no problems. But it may limit you on galleries, ending graphics, intro/outro sceens, etc. That said, I'm a big fan...

Re: Planet EVN
Hi Tom, If you don't mind having non-RenPy projects on the Planet EVN list, I've started blogging about the engine/sim-evn I'm working on. The blog is at http://www.mduffor.com (feed is http://mduffor.com/?feed=rss2). I'm using the "evn" tag for all of my evn related posts, but it is a low...

Re: Stand on your mark (question about directing)
Personally, I'd say go ahead and move your sprites off-center for composition purposes, if for no other reason. Straight-ahead, subject-centered compositions aren't all that interesting. If your background image is staged such that visually interesting elements are on the right half of the image, go...
