Renpy won't launch my games - common file errors and trying to read the other game's script?

I've been working on two games: The Miller's Daughter, and a little side project called Kingdom Adventure. I'd been working on Kingdom Adventure for a few days, then last night tried to launch The Miller's Daughter, and it makes it to the title screen for a few seconds before crashing. The same thin...

Re: Endelwyn: Drawn to You (WIP) [G x B][Romance][Fantasy]

Aww, she's adorable, look at her! The sass cannot be contained. I like the subtle texture on her sweater and the soft gradient in her hair.

Re: Endelwyn: Drawn to You (WIP) [G x B][Romance][Fantasy]

I think your art is awesome and the characters have great designs. My fave char is Noa. I like big guys with bright personalities. Working with a low budget is tough, but if you're able to handle the art on your own, I think you've got the hardest part covered. When you go over the characters, I rec...

Re: Cannibal Lottery Kickstarter and Demo [Horror] [SciFi]

It's going to be portrayed as an unhealthy relationship that can absolutely be interpreted as lesbian in some scenes. We're not promoting the yuri side of things so much because Dal-Tor's obsession with Faleena is meant to be seen as toxic. However--a lot of people have been getting into that ship,...

Re: Cannibal Lottery Kickstarter and Demo [Horror] [SciFi]

To date, this is the best VN I've ever played. I'm going through the trouble of setting up my PC in the living room (to get it on a big screen) today to play it with a friend. I think this is a great introduction to VNs for people that are used to traditional games because there are a ton of choices...

Re: Change the name of the game or not?

Yuri Affection sounds like basic description, so I don't think it makes a good game title. I like Your Affection quite a lot. Few people are familiar with the Persona OST, and even those that are familiar with it will probably not make the connection, since "your affection" is a common en...

Re: Tales From Windy Meadow [Fantasy/Slice of life/Pixel Art] [Steam]

Finishing this game gave me the same kind of empty ache that I get from finishing a good book that I don't want to end. In the span of only four hours, it feels like I've known these characters for years. Every person in town has a story and I wish I could hear all of them. That's part of what makes...

Re: Tales From Windy Meadow [Fantasy/Slice of life/Pixel Art]

I have been worried about spamming your thread, so that is good. I got to start the game during lunch today (with two chars) and right away, the feeling is EPIC.

Re: Tales From Windy Meadow [Fantasy/Slice of life/Pixel Art]

Congratulations on this monumental achievement! Just your story alone about its creation is moving and speaks to me. I'm looking forward to playing it today.

Re: Stylized Ancient Egyptian drawings instead of sophisticated CGs?

Those are all very valid and reasonable, it's not easy to overcome the sunk cost fallacy. Great job! About the UI, though, I don't know what is typical of the genre, but the way I understood that you scaled back on the UI was that you made it look less distinguishable from the rest of the game? I h...

Re: Towards Tomorrow [Slice of Life?] (Feedback Appreciated)

I'm really into the concept! The cast has a lot of personality. Kenneth and Agatha stand out to me as favorites because they seem colorful and funny, and I'm interested in the set up for the kinds of situations Dillan and Evie could get into.

Re: Stylized Ancient Egyptian drawings instead of sophisticated CGs?

In case I employ typical ancient drawings, this task is placed onto the text itself, isn't it? Yes, I think that's probably true. The game sounds really interesting with what it's trying to achieve! Would you share your game you are talking about, the one where you scaled back? And how did you scal...

Re: Any good GxG VNs or KNs?

Do check out Butterfly Soup. It's authentically lesbian (created by a lesbian) and brilliantly executed. It's not only well-written and drawn, but it has an inspired use of sound, UI design, and motion that makes it a good source to learn from, in my opinion.

Re: Stylized Ancient Egyptian drawings instead of sophisticated CGs?

I think it depends on what kind of story you want to tell and how you want people to connect with it. I normally see stylized art like that restricted to vignettes within the context of a larger story. Ice Age is one example; the beautifully animated Deathly Hallows segment from the last Harry Potte...

Re: Cannibal Lottery [Horror]

Wow, I love this! I have an aversion to body horror and sustained tension, so I don't watch a lot of horror unless it's psychological horror - which I quite like - but the puzzle aspect, management aspect, hard choices, atmosphere, characters, and dash of zany comedy really appeal to me! I am crazy ...
