Re: >Artistic Works Circum-Critique Thread

Ok, I know photoshop. ^-^ Here's a quick fix: your linework looks a little washed out- try duplicating the layer it's on a few times and it will darken up.

Re: >Artistic Works Circum-Critique Thread

Ok, this is my first atyempt at ever using a tablet and computer software (oh, paper and pencil, how simple you seem now...), and boy was that hard. Anyway, I'd love to hear what you guys think/suggest/etc. I also realize one of her eyes seems to be higher than the other now... Along with any criti...

Re: >Artistic Works Circum-Critique Thread

My suggestion would be to get off the computer. As you said, it's really is very hard on a tiny tablet to get the proper wrist and arm movements, and the hand-eye coordination you'll need to draw in a way that you like.

Re: About the Main Character

I think if your game is more about the people you meet and the world you see, then it's alright leave the main character a little wispy and let the player fill in the details. If you're going for a strong storyline as well as interaction with people, you'll probably need a more well-defined MC to ho...

Re: Creative ways to get an ending

Well, I broke my game up into sections that get harder and harder depending on what you do.
Put in endings that only appear after getting another ending, or only if completed in a certain time, or if your character picks something up off the floor.

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

I liiike it. The eyes look a bit strange, but it's your style so wut. Also, don't be afraid of practicing digital drawings every once in a while. It's fun. Lol, no, I'll take your word for it that they look strange. :3 Also, a painting, and a digital. (On top of a regular drawing, lol) Huh. I just ...

Re: >Artistic Works Circum-Critique Thread

Hey there! I don't know if anyone's in line or something like that, but considering the thread hasn't been updated in around 5 days, does anyone mind if I post a piece for critique? http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d138/PrettySammyNAS/TamaHaru.png I'm trying more difficult perspectives. I'm trying...

Re: The Ultimate Character Template

I also think it's important for authors to really think about why anyone would care about their character. It's so easy for an author to make characters they like that are actually really boring, no matter how fleshed out they are.

Re: How much time do you spend with your characters?

I usually come up with a character first. Then, once I like their personality, I think of another character they could get along with, and what their common goal is. Once I have two characters who work well together working towards something, the rest of the plot just falls into place. So how long d...

Re: Writing about other character's memories

What if you use images of the character who's viewpoint you're in imagining the flashback the other character is telling them? Could be good for building a strong character to see their personal interpretation. :3

Paste the error report in here. :3 It's pretty hard to figure out the issue otherwise.

Also, for snow, I just pick a soft-edged round brush in photoshop and draw a dot, haha.

Re: Kyuuketsuki BonBon (Sprites are here!)

Ok, Demo in a little while. . . not too long, maybe saturday? Anyways, the Demo, (Kyuuketsuki DemoDemo) is self contained and has different sprites and such. It just shares the overall look and world and character relations, as well as the flow of game play. It's pretty short, but hopefully it's cut...

Re: The Importance of Exposition

Ahh. . . exposition. I think, in a VN, it's hard to find a spot exactly for exposition. You could have your characters explain, but then they seem fake, because why are they telling each other things they already know? You could have a big introduction, but that's boring, and there's no reason to ex...
